How easily doth my heart melt: A nice PPC police story.
Faithful readers know I go off on cops when warranted. If I do that--and I do--then I am obliged to speak well of them when warranted and I'm happy to do so, I really am.
This is so slight as to make you wonder why I'm using bandwidth to even report it. Saturday we were in the Alpine PPC HQ parking lot. Here's a car backing up to where we were standing. It wasn't clear to us he wanted to come still farther in reverse but he did. He stuck his head out of the window and said, "Excuse me, sir." *That's it. That's all. But how very, very nice. All the moreso because it turns out he was an officer.
Mine Road
I was up at Mine Road today - near West Point, in Highland Falls. The road's been sporadically closed for militarty training. Thought I'd share the road is open. Beware the climb got a little longer since last time - and steeper. Must have been the earthquake. Anyways, it seems to be open.

BoatHouse Restaurant
Just learned via Facebook that the Boathouse Restaurant in Central Park has closed. Remember coffe and before rides, and smotthies on the hill after rides?

Peekskill to Tarrytown best route?
Hi all,
Any suggestions on how best to get from Peeksill to Tarrytown? I'm hoping to to do a loop this coming weekend from GWB up to Bear Mtn, over the Bear Mtn bridge and then down the east side of the Hudson to cross back over the Cuomo bridge.
Thanks, Peter

NYPD bike cops uniform question
Hi-
I'm working on a tv show and trying to verify if NYPD bike cops in Central Park wear a navy shirt or a high-viz yellow with navy. I've seen pix of the high viz and saw a gaggle of them outside Macys yesterday. Mostly seems like the high viz are for protests. Uniform store in Brooklyn said the high viz are a Strategic Unit, but still trying to make sure.
I'm in the park early before they are deployed, so appreciate any observations.
thanks,
Lauren
Columbia Lamont Doherty Campus- Snake Explosion
For those of you who like to ride through the Columbia Lamont-Doherty campus it has been reported that the snake population including timber rattlers and copperheads is growing rapidly due to the empty campus and employees working remotely.

ENY gear
Hello everyone,
I haven't yet received my Escape New York jersey, having missed the deadline to inform the organization that I wanted to pick it up in September. Apparently there will be a chance to pick it up in person somewhere sometime this month, but I haven't seen any postings or emails about it. Can anyone direct me to the right information or person?
Thank you,
Dave
Can someone ID this logo?
Original components are Shimano 600 if that helps.
Morpher folding helmet "recalled"
Someone on one of my rides earlier this year had one of these and struggled to get it fit. CPSC has "recalled" it. As the maker is defunct, the recommended remedy is "dispose." Hat-tip to John Herman, who posted about this on the NYCC Facebook group.
