Crossing US-6/Palisades to Continue onto Seven Lakes Drive

Submitted by johnvic on Thu, 09/17/2020 - 3:41pm

I seem to remember that cyclists would cross US-6/Palisades to continue on Seven Lakes Drive in order to get to Bear Mountain, although it may have been illegal. Is this true? If so, is it currently being enforced? Here is a picture of that area for what I want to do:

Has anyone rode Arden Valley Rd since the storm a few weeks ago.  Was hopping to know if it was rideable, before I headed out there.

We have a ride to State Line listed for next Sunday, 9/20

Does anyone know if the restrooms are open?

Is the route south from the park on Old 9W to New 9W rideable?

Has anyone successfully ridden through Lamont-Doherty from the main entrance to the exit at the north end (Ludlow Lane?)

Any intl is welcome.

Bike Repairs

Submitted by JCarasso on Sat, 09/12/2020 - 10:49pm

Just a head's up, went to Bicycle Workshop in Tenafly today for a problem shifting. We were advised that they have a 2 week wait for repairs. They were very busy. They were unable to even give it a serious look   Things have changed   In the past they would have put the bike on a stand and have a look

Passive aggressive loogie hocking in CP

Submitted by MFulton on Fri, 09/11/2020 - 2:10pm

Funny story: trudging my steel frame road bike up "Harlem Hill" today in the "slow lane", and, at the very top of the hill, a gentleman in full navy blue S-Works kit with matching bike and bright white socks passes on the right, looks back in my direction, and proceeds to hock a loogie at my front wheel.

I'll admit, I can be a jerk, but this was one of those times when I definitely was NOT being a jerk.

Any thoughts on hocking a loogie at someone in the middle of a pandemic? Is this a "pro" thing. (Just kidding. Sorry for venting.)

Tire advice

Submitted by halpernd on Mon, 09/07/2020 - 8:31pm

Hello -

The tires on my Specialized Allez Comp are worn out.  I have a 700X25 in the front and 700X28 in the rear (opted for this for improved comfort).  I have been riding a lot and for the first time speed is more important for me than comfort.  So, I'm thinking to go with 700X25 for front and rear.
