Any Di2 experts out there?

Submitted by josiah@iconocla... on Mon, 09/07/2020 - 10:57am
I've been fighting with the Di2 on my 2 year old Cervelo R3 for several weeks now and so far Di2 seems to be winning. In the middle of a ride a few weeks back it just started to respond only intermittently. At first the rear derailleur stopped responding but the front would still shift. That's opposite from the behavior when the battery runs low, and I had recently charged it, so it obviously wasn't a dead battery. If I stopped it would shift for me, but it gradually got worse. Eventually the front stopped responding too.

I don't have any other experience with Di2, but it's an electrical system with sealed components so the problem has to be with one of the cables or one the components.

When the perp realized that he was not going to win the tug o war with me over the bike and his friends weren't coming to his aid, he gave up.  There were a number of people & 2 (empty?) police cars at the scene.

She thought that the "best terrain of the trip was the Tarrytown-Yonkers Old Croton Aqueduct trail" She covered 72 miles in 3 days.

Di2 with smart trainer

Submitted by ty111 on Fri, 09/04/2020 - 2:38pm

Does anyone notice shifting problems when using Di2 on smart (wheel on) trainer. My shifting is a mess and I don't know if it's a simple adjustment.

Does anyone know of anypne who services these things? You can't exactly ride into your local shop. What a PITA.

Thanks

A universal bike?

Submitted by EODonnell on Thu, 09/03/2020 - 3:18pm

I would like to buy a bike to use in Chile (retirement in the off season, Nov. - March?  where it will be summer).  I want to buy only one bike.  In a perfect world, it could do road, cyclocross, gravel and tris.  Yes, I know...a fantasy, but…  If I bought a disc brake cyclocross, with 33mm tires, could I drop down to 28mm for the road, and up to…37+ for gravel?  For tris, I would just slap on some aerobars temporarily.  Yes, it would never be perfect for any one discipline, but everything in life is a compromise, and dragging my NY bikes back and forth is a hassle and not cheap.  Any suggestions, brands, models?

Beer in the Shower

Submitted by JKeller on Wed, 09/02/2020 - 11:34am

Anybody else here remember NYCC member Doug Blackburn (Jody and Christie)?

When Doug described having a beer in the shower after a ride in 1985 I thought he was a genius.  Turns out he was 35 years ahead of his time.
