Cycling in Japan

Submitted by FLeffel on Sun, 12/21/2025 - 5:13pm

We are planning a 3 week vacation in Japan in October. We'll be visting friends in Tokyo part of the time and taking in other main tourist destinations. But we'd also like to include a few single or multi-day bike rides. We've been looking through some books and done some research online, but would love any recommendations from NYCC'ers.

Thanks!

Fred

Geoffrey Radbill was killed by the driver of a van on Sunday morning at the 6 way intersection at Riverside Drive East and w 158th street (the safest of 3 GWB approaches from RSD). I don't think I've ever met him.

Carbon fiber repair

Submitted by RFranco on Sun, 12/07/2025 - 3:21pm

Hi all,

I have an issue with the water bottle cage bolt on my carbon fiber bike. The bolt appears to be stripped and needs to be removed because I need to replace the water botttle cage. Does anyone know of an expert who can remove the bolt without damaging the frame?

Thank you!

Reyna

Spin Class

Submitted by RTellerman on Mon, 12/01/2025 - 9:53am

Good morning. Any recommendations for a spin class provided by an instructor that is a cyclist with cycling specific workouts. I'm not interested in an aerobics class on a bike to burn calories and sweat. Also, are there any studios that use Watt Bikes?

TIA

Is there a Philadelphia equivalent of the NYCC?

Submitted by YoniKochavi on Tue, 11/25/2025 - 1:51pm

Residing most, but not all days at 15&Locust. I've driven my car outside Philly a bit and see almost no cyclists. The terrain is interesting but the roads are not good for cyclists (narrow and no shoulders). I know about the schulkill bikeway. Kinda of like the west side bikeway; multi use with lots of pedestrians, roller bladers, runners, etc. Might be a way to get to roads better suited for cyclists.
