Anyone up for riding from the Adriatic to the Mediterranean in Southern Italy?

I just signed up for a 9-day cycling trip (8 days of biking) across Southern Italy and I thought I’d see if anyone in the club wants to join me.

The trip is from May 24 to June 1.
It’s run by a great company called Ciclismo Classico. I’ve been on four Ciclismo trips and each one was a fantastic experience. The routes, guides, hotels, and food always went far beyond my expectations.

The cost of the trip is $6,700 based on double-occupancy.
Lauren, the owner of Ciclismo is offering us a special club discount that is based on the number of people who go.

4-6 friends: $150 pp off

7-9 friends: $200 pp off

New bike shop/cafe a few feet from the NY side of the GWB - Break Away Cafe

Submitted by LWintner on Thu, 10/02/2025 - 11:56am

This is a very small bike shop with one mechanic and a small cafe with snacks, light meals, coffee and other drinks (including beer).  It is very friendly and pleasant.  There's a clean restroom.

Cancelled 7:15am Prospect Park laps this morning?

Submitted by C Ray Borck on Fri, 09/26/2025 - 8:26am

Hi I'm new here. Per the calendar, I thought there was going to be a C level Prospect Park laps ride at 7:15 this morning? Wondering if it was cancelled or if I did something wrong? Didn't find anyone when I got there at 7:10. Did the ride anyway

Last night's meeting: Unasked questions

Submitted by RRosenthal on Wed, 09/10/2025 - 10:04am

At last night's meeting, members were allowed a strictly regulated, timed 1 minute to ask questions. Speakers average 125 words a minute. I was shut down before completing the predicate to my questions so it seemed I had nothing more to offer than personal complaints. Having experienced moderators not seeing or understanding something, I wanted to suggest they first speak with posters about their posts before removing them.

Any owner of inexpensive folding bike for commuting?

Submitted by April on Sun, 09/07/2025 - 3:39pm

Thinking about getting an inexpensive 'run-about' bike for going up and down town (Manhattan).

Why a folding bike? I now live in Westchester. Metro North doesn't allow regular size bike on the train during rush hours. Though folding bikes are allowed.

I've waited this long to take the mental plunge to folding bikes because I've been getting by with a Citibike membership instead of bringing my own bike in. But thanks to the infinite wisdom of whoever operates Citibike, there're now tons of electric bikes which requires extra cost to take out. Yet for those of us who can actually pedal a mechanical bike for the princely sum of ~$200/y? Most often than not, there're no non-electric bikes to be found by 5:20!
