Hi

I consider myself a c rider and I ride in the early morning around Central Park. I ride from 5:15-6:30am and ride between 8-10 miles. It takes me 37 minutes to ride 5.11 miles. I usually start at east 84th street and do a full loop around, via the intersecton at 103rd, because I don't go up the big hill at 103rd. I go back around to east 84th street and then one more time through 103rd, up 96th, to west 84th, And, I cut over at Sheeps Meadow to go east. Or, I start at east 84th, left on 13rd, right at 66th to 72nd, and left on 72nd. I do this loop twice before heading up to east 84th.

Seven Cycles Demo Rides - Sunday 4/13 - Grant's Tomb

Submitted by NYCfixie on Fri, 04/11/2025 - 7:27pm

I just noticed this post in the marketplace and was not sure if it made sense to post it here as well so more people see it.

I have no affiliation with Seven Cycles other than when my wife and I lived in the Boston area for a few years I worked with Patria to have Seven build me my custom Seven Axiom SL which I still own and ride several years later.

BSIG Sunday Rain Out

Submitted by [email protected] on Sat, 04/05/2025 - 3:53pm

No BSIG ride tomorrow.

See you all at the BSIG Social this Monday!

Tomorrow/Saturday's Nyack ride is rained out. There is just too much rain in the forecast.

Let's be hopeful that we can ride Sunday. Go/No Go decision will be made mid-afternoon tomorrow.

What's the deal with this spoke pattern?

Submitted by isaacb on Thu, 04/03/2025 - 10:09am

A shop I use in south Jersey has a used bike I'm considering. The wheels come with a spoke pattern I'm not familar with:

What do you call this pattern? I assume the low number os spokes reduce weight, but can I expect this kind of wheel to survive real world riding in and around NYC?

Thanks

Portugal Anyone?

I am putting a ride together 5/21-27 but I may shorten it to 23-27 to keep it lower cost. If interested, email me - great riding available at C, B and A level! [email protected]

Car doored, lawyer?

Submitted by MTitmuss on Sun, 03/30/2025 - 10:16pm

I was hit by a car door, broke my nose, finger, tore my rotator cuff. Driver and passenger left without stopping.  I got the plate and reported to NYPD.   Anyone recommend a lawyer in NYC?

Just a random observation that ride listings for Saturday vs Sunday are at about a 6:1 ratio.

Touring Trailer Tips

Submitted by PStorey on Fri, 03/28/2025 - 2:04pm

A friend (no, really!) Is looking to do a self-supported tour this summer and asks whether one wheeled or two wheeled trailers are preferred. I have a vague recollection that heavy duty tourists preferred the BOB trailer because of its single wheel (it tracked better ), but I’d be curious to know what the current thinking is.
