Prospect Park Lunch Laps
Anyone interested in doing a few laps in Prospect Park once/twice a week around 2-3pm at ~16mph?
I've been taking solo "therapy rides" and would enjoy some company (6 ft apart). My adolescent pitbull makes it hard for me to ride early mornings or evenings, but the early afternoon park is warm and empty and a mid-day ride works better than a shot of espresso.
Ideally we'd meet at Grand Army Plaza, but anywhere in the park will do. Location/datetime/duration are all flexible.

Bike issues
Good morning,
Has anyone had experience with "ghost shifting?" My bike changes gears, without my consent, mid-pedal. This has happened before and I think it's something to do with the cables. Despite past fixes of this issue, it keeps coming back.
Is this just a sign of old age? Is it worth it to sink more money into an over 10-year old bike, or is it better to euthanize and get new wheels?

The newly-paved Jones Point path near Bear Mountain State Park: it is real and it is spectacular
A friend and I did a Bear ride today -- we're coworkers and company management gave us all the day off -- and this was my first chance to check out the newly-reopened, now paved Jones Point path.
Wow, buttery smooth, so much easier than riding on the shoulder of 9W (significantly uphill and) broadside of it. Some uphill, but not nearly so difficult as the parallel bit of 9W. Great views.
Honestly I think it makes the 9W corridor route my preferred way to get up to Bear now. The Harriman route is messed up 'cause PIPPD doesn't want us doing the connect-7-Lakes-Drive merge-across thing any more? Not a worry, it's no longer my preferrd way to get there anyway.

D-Sig and all mountain and gravel bikers
Hi all. We saw what looked like the D-Sig of the NYCC out on the trails in Alpine, NJ. Welcome!
Don't forget to support the local folks at PalisadesMTB.org that are advocating on the behalf of (dirt) cyclists throughout Bergen County, Rockland County, and Orange County. We're also a local chapter of JORBA, who are advocating throughout the state of NJ. We need cyclist to join our organization and show support for finding more places for cyclists to ride safely while respecting our natural surroundings.
