NYPD Ticketing on First Avenue
NYPD was out on First Avenue @ both 20th street and further up at 52nd Street, giving tickets to cyclists. I posted it on FB and a NYPD FB friend commented that they are also cracking down on cyclists not wearing helmets due to the recent accidents that have happneded. Not that any of you don't wear your helmet.
visiting NYC
Despite not being a club member, I hope it's okay if I post some questions on this forum...
We're occasional visitors to NYC, but this will be the first time bringing our bikes, and we're anxious to do some cycling in Central Park! We'll be camping in the Fishkill area and driving in, so I'm primarily looking for advice on where we can park and unload close to Central Park. I prefer indoor parking...but I'm not sure if that's frowned upon when bringing bikes. Any suggestions?
C Rider Looking for Possible Evening Central Park Rides
Thought that I would try riding in the evenings in CP. Recent graduate of the C-SIG who has done some B rides. Anybody interested?
What I have in mind would be probably two laps around the Park, beginning at 6:30 or 700 pm. East 72nd Street entrance is most convenient for me, but we can work out other meeting points. Nothing too structured; just riding at avg of around 14 mph.
Please let me know if anybody's interested.
Thanks,
Jim

female road bike loaner
does anyone have a female road bike that could be borrowed or rented for the weekend? the rider is of average size.
Unbelievable
It was just announced an olympic shuttle bus has killed a cyclist in London
Wed night laps in Prospect Park - rained out - rescheduled for tomorrow.
It looks like the weather isn't going to improve by 6pm, so I've cancelled tonight's ride in Prospect Park and have re-posted it for tomorrow (Thu). Same time, same place, same ride. See you there.
Steve
Proof once again cyclists are suicidal and deliberately ride into cars, killing themselves.
In April, 2005, 23 year old Anthony Tasso, driving a Lexus SUV on a suspended license, killed Jerome Allen, a 58 year old bank examiner who was riding a bike. He was not charged.
In September, 2005, 23 year old José Vicens, driving a Lincoln Navigator (SUV), killed 14 year old Andre Anderson who was riding a bike. He was not charged.
And now we have 24 year old Anthony Guan, driving a Jaguar, killing Ray Deter. Of course, he was not charged.
Closure of both GWB bike paths on August 11???
Hudson Terrace is definitely closed for the Tri. I am not sure if the paths will be closed but if Hudson Terrace is closed how can they be open? No one at the bridge can tell me but they may know the week before.
