FRI AND SAT HEAT ADVISORY

Submitted by NSnow on Thu, 07/21/2011 - 3:18pm

Dear Friday and Saturday Ride Leaders,

Perhaps an obvious warning but just in case....Please use your judgement in dialing back speeds, increasing water stops, and decreasing mileage ove the next few days. Always better safe than sorry!

Sincerely, Your concerned Ride Coordinators!

Friday afternoon pedal to Piermont?

Submitted by emilyjt on Thu, 07/21/2011 - 2:24pm

Anyone interested in an afternoon ride to Piermont tomorrow (Friday).  Meet at CPark Boathouse or at GW bridge? I have a "summer friday" so can go anytime after 2pm.  I'm looking to do a relatively easy pace along 9W (16/17 mph?) as I have a triathlon on Sunday so don't want to kill the legs.  Email me at [email protected]

Vintageic Fugi Sagres for sale

Submitted by RMrozek on Thu, 07/21/2011 - 1:15pm

Vintage Fugi Sagres, cir. 1983. $300. This is the classic Fugi Sagres, mixte frame bike -- world-wide, one of the most successful and popular production-line bicycles. MADE IN JAPAN (before Fugi contracted out production to Korea, Taiwan and China) during the golden age of Japanese manufacturing that brought us the Sony Walkman and Honda Civic. This bike is in remarkably very good, collectable, condition. The frame is made of Fugi VALite (chrome-vandium) 414 butted tubing -- exceptionally strong and light-weight, even by today's standards. Suntour AR derailers and stem shifters, double chain-ring crank set, 6-speed rear cassette. I repacked the wheel bearings and installed new Kenda tires and tubes. Took it out for a test ride and ended up cruising around Brooklyn for 2 hours.

Mamaroneck/City Island ride, and Saturday weather

Submitted by abrowning on Thu, 07/21/2011 - 10:01am

To everyone who has signed up for our ride-  we will most likely be riding on Saturday, despite the predicted temp of 97.  However, we will post cancellation on the MB at 7:00 a.m. if we do decide to cancel.  Given the weather, we will be making more frequent stops than usual, to get ice and cold drinks.  Please bring two water bottles, and use a camelback with ice, if you have one.  There is also a possibility of taking the subway home from the Bronx after lunch, to cut off the Gun Hill heat and traffic.  TBD.

Also, I had forgotten to post:  the lunch place only takes cash, no credit cards.  The fried fish is fabulous, and we will eat in the shade at picnic tables overlooking the water.

Submitted by iLikeToRideMyBicycle on Wed, 07/20/2011 - 11:54pm

Hi all,

I'm looking for a friendly road biking club in the general area of Great Barrington.  I googled and found racing clubs, but I'm looking for something a bit slower and more social.

Any leads will be appreciated!
