Sat. 7/30, NYC to Cold Spring, A19

Submitted by RGentile on Fri, 07/29/2011 - 8:49am

Kevin Cruickshank and I will lead a MELLOW Rockland Cty ride on Saturday.  The exact route will be determined by the weather conditions and rider preferences, but we're planning on finishing in Cold Spring and taking the train back, probably passing through Harriman on the way up.

This is not an official NYCC ride--no cue sheets, no sign-in sheets.  Regroup after climbs.  Required: paceline skills, helmet, and all the other usual.

We'll meet at 8am at Grant's Tomb.

Problem with recurring rides submission system

Submitted by abrowning on Thu, 07/28/2011 - 4:04pm

To all ride leaders who have been diligently and patiently trying to submit recurring rides:

The system is NOT functioning.  We understand that 1) the multiple rides do not get submitted to the Ride Coordinators, 2) when changes are made, they all might disappear, and 3) sometimes none of the rides appear as submitted.

Until the problem is identified and we have the resources to get it fixed, you will need to submit each ride separately.  It has the webmaster's attention, as do many other important "fixes".  Please do not attempt to use the recurring ride submission system until we notify you on the MB that the problem has been solved.

And thank you for continuing to submit rides-  your fellow club members are very grateful!

Nightmare on Elm St - Sunday 7/31

Submitted by BSullivan on Thu, 07/28/2011 - 2:08pm

Lesse and I are really excited to be leading this ride on Sunday. This is the third year we've done it, and it's always been a hoot.

A few people have emailed me about the climbs... how hard are they, really? Some of them are pretty tough - but short. Think Ash - but with a real hard kick... or maybe two. We will approach these with a spirit of camaraderie - urging each other to the top. Other climbs are a little longer but more moderate. Many are full of character; some feature fantastic views. Either way, you'll be going slow enough to take it all in.

Sunday 7/31 B18 ride - The Knot

Submitted by RSaken on Thu, 07/28/2011 - 10:39am

A classic A ride at a friendly B18 pace.

63 miles and almost 6000' of climbing, including River Road in both directions, Clausland Mountain Rd, Bradley, and Tweed. Here's the route: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/547255.

Excellent group riding skills desired. We will ride together on flats and regroup at the top of hills. Lunch in Nyack. Please make sure your bike is in good riding condition and tires properly inflated. Bring water and pocket food.

Please arrive a few minutes early to sign in so we can leave promptly at 8:30.

E-mail me for confirmation at [email protected]. Ride limited to 10 plus ride leaders.

Looking for Group Rides in Denver Area Next Week. Suggestions?

Submitted by RCiardullo on Thu, 07/28/2011 - 9:30am

I will be in Lakeville, CO  (the Denver burbs) from Sunday 8.1 through Friday 8.5 then off to Grand Junction. Anyone know of any good A level group rides in the Denver area? I did a web search, but only found a few easy 20 mile rides!
