Unable to see Rides.

Submitted by khorsani on Tue, 07/26/2011 - 10:12pm

Hi Guys, I joined NYCC 20 minutes ago and paid via paypal but am not able to see the details of the upcoming rides. Is it because I am still new and my profile needs to be approved or is something funky going on?

Thanks.

bike in box: fit inside taxi?

Submitted by JL44 on Tue, 07/26/2011 - 9:31pm

I'm taking my bike on a bus.  First, I'm putting it in a box that measures 53" x 30" x 8".

Uh, looks kinda long...is that going to fit in the trunk of the standard crown victoria taxi cab?

(subway or friend with car not options here)

South Mountain and Saddle River ride is on (+route)

Submitted by AHolmes on Tue, 07/26/2011 - 8:04pm

Hi everyone,
The weather looks good, so our ride tomorrow is on. The cue sheet is at http://nycc.org/node/49085, and gpx/tcx files can be exported from here: http://www.bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=284881
Note that even though the cue sheet starts the ride at the Central Park Boathouse, we'll be starting from Grant's Tomb at 122nd & Riverside at 8:45am. We have a good group so far, so I think we're in for a very lovely and scenic day.

NYC to Boston (transporting a bike)

Submitted by amj2142 on Tue, 07/26/2011 - 3:42pm

Unlike the previous post asking about a biking route to Boston, I'm wondering what is the best way to transport my bike from NYC to Boston (just for the weekend). Am I allowed to bring my bike on the amtrak train? what about buses? anyone has any experience with that? Thanks in advance

Route to Tanglewood?

Submitted by EJacobs on Tue, 07/26/2011 - 1:48pm

Hi all,

I want to catch concert or two at Tanglewood this season. Looking at the map, seems it's pretty close to Poughkeepsie, which is trainable.  Any suggestions for a route from Poughkeepsie  to Tanglewood? Looks to be about 70 miles. Is 9A an option? I'd imagine it gets pretty hilly pretty quickly away from the river, but I'm not scared of hills, just traffic!

Most of the concerts end late, so I'd also be looking for a B+B, or maybe a camping site in the area, and ride back the next day.

Thanks!

Bikes on Verrazano Br

Submitted by arvi on Tue, 07/26/2011 - 12:19pm

This is an old topic, but here's a newish blog post about it which I just came across. If you feel like filling out the survey, it surely won't hurt and maybe will help the case for bike access to the VB. I filled it out.
