sports doctor recommendation?

Submitted by PatCH on Tue, 07/26/2011 - 8:38am

I've been struggling with some Achilles tendinitis issues, and even with the basic home remedies, I still find myself aching. Does anyone have a recommendation on a good sports doctor? Somewhere near my office in midtown east would be great, but I'll travel far and wide for a good fixin'.

Thanks!

Question about the ride library

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 07/25/2011 - 10:05pm

Trying to make sense of how to use the ride library...

The search option of county and distance are a little too broad to search for specific cue sheet that goes to a destination.

The other 2 search options is where I'm having trouble understanding: What does rating means?

And level? (I know about ride level, which is about speed/pacelining, but I doubt that's got anything to do with a ROUTE...)

Bicycling improves in LA

Submitted by HDershowitz on Mon, 07/25/2011 - 5:01pm

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A new Los Angeles law makes it a crime for motorists to harass bicyclists, verbally or physically.

The City Council approved the ordinance on Wednesday. It also allows victims of harassment to file civil lawsuits without waiting for the city to press criminal charges.

League of American Bicyclists president Andy Clarke calls the law groundbreaking, saying no other city in the nation offers bicyclists an equivalent civil recourse.

Bicycle advocates have complained that motorists throw objects, shout insults and try to run them off the road.

manhattan to white plains/purchase?

Submitted by michael5wong on Sun, 07/24/2011 - 7:25pm

Hey!  I'm a new NY rider.  I live near the west side highway downtown, and work in Purchase (Westchester).  Can anybody recommend some routes to ride to work?  From what I've read, it sounds difficult without going through a lot of traffic, but hoping someone can help me out!

Thanks,

Michael

Tuesday night unofficial B/16-17 ride to Alpine

Submitted by mendelay on Sun, 07/24/2011 - 6:33pm

Anyone interested in joining a 2 hr, B/16-17 UNOFFICIAL ride, Tuesday eve to Alpine, please show up at Sakura Park at 7pm.

We'll go up to Alpin via the Henry Hudson Drive ("River Rd."). It will be about dusk when we get back, so bring lights. A safer alternative would be to take the Subway once we cross the GW back to the city.

Please check back to this page for changes.

Ticketing on Riverside

Submitted by ROrvedahl on Sun, 07/24/2011 - 1:33pm

Early this morning on Riverside Drive in the 100s, I happened upon a woman being ticketed for cycling through a red light.  She told  me that she was also getting dinged (sorry, can't resist) for not having a bell and back reflector.  So ticketing continues - though it's my sense that it's occurring less often.  Yes?  No?
