NYC Bike Share - job announcements

Submitted by EGreenstein on Wed, 06/27/2012 - 10:23am

NYC Bike Share program is looking for senior managers for its NYC program, which will be the largest in the country and among the largest in the world (10,000 bikes). They are looking for “diverse” candidates who are qualified to run the NYC program. Candidate must have managed an organization (100+ people), had P&L responsibility (minimum $5M budget) and preferably 15 years of related experience. “Bike” experience is not necessary, but organizational management expertise is. Do you know any folks who may be looking? The program sponsors are Citi and Mastercard. The Bike Share GM is a high profile position and would have direct relationship with the program sponsors and Dept of Transportation.

Nevermind! Got er done all by myself!

I have killed my rings and cassette, and have been told it's time to change the rear derailleur as well, especially if I want to move to an 11-28 cassette. I am considering upgrading the front while I am there.

Due to tight monetary constraints, and a desire to build on my knowledge of how my bike works, I am looking to gain some experience/save some money by ordering online, and doing it DIY style.

Does anyone besides Damon Strub (whose generosity and patience, I feel I have already leaned too much upon) have the tools and know how to guide me through some deep drivetrain work?

This is from Streetsblog.org. You should be reading it everyday.

A bill targeted at NYPD’s self-imposed ban on citing motorists for careless driving passed the State Senate transportation committee but did not come to a vote in the full Senate, while the Assembly version never made it out of committee.

Delaware County rides

Submitted by MBruckner on Wed, 06/27/2012 - 7:02am

Does anyone have suggestions (or cue sheets) for good rides in Delaware County and its environs? I'm renting a place in the area this summer and want to get in some good riding.

Thanks!

If you've signed the roster, but haven't mailed your check, please get it to us by June 30th.

Otherwise, you may lose your slot to those on the wait list. We have one opening left.

I've done a fair amount of driving on the former, and for the 2 miles from downtown Chappaqua to Seven Bridges Road I think it'd be okay to ride on, though good that it'd be only a short segment of the trip.

What about Hardscrabble Road from Pleasantville instead? Quieter, I'd assume, but it looks like there are some painful grades to contend with.

Thoughts?

Thanks!
Matt
