25th anniversary benefit for Time's Up! - Tuesday night

Submitted by HBorgeson on Sun, 07/01/2012 - 12:24pm

Since 1994, Time's Up! has offered free Central Park Moonlight Rides once a month for residents and visitors to New York. I've been lucky enough to lead that ride since 1996, and I've really enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people, seeing amazing sights, and sharing incredible experiences. This Tuesday night, Time's Up!

On the chance that anyone who is currently signed-up for the New Paltz ride and is having reason to reconsider, please let me know. I sure would like to be on that one.

July 4th and Metro North

The sign-up for July 4th in Cold Spring has been terrific.

Yesterday you were asked if a Grand Tour ever knowingly accepted a woman. The answer is "No." However, that does not mean a woman never entered and raced in a grand tour. One did--using a man's name: the directors of the Giro d'Italia accepted the application of Alfonsin Strada in 1924. Alfonsin turned out to be Alfonsina, and while she was removed from the race after the seventh stage for failing to make the time limit, she finished well ahead of a number of men.

OK, here's the last question before we settle into the Tour which starts today. It's a contest. There is no correct answer. Just a winning opinion. And if you win? Well, read about the very grand Grand Prize here, along with the rules of the contest:

Bike lock test

Submitted by jegrgic on Fri, 06/29/2012 - 12:10pm

This is a fairly pathetic test of bike locks by the bored writers at Gizmodo.

Im shocked they didnt test brute muscle first (would be just as good at using bolt cutters on solid steel)

This is clearly the best method to lock up a bike

Moral of post,  if your bike cost you a relationship, birthright, job, or rent payment, dont lock it up.  If your friends dont understand, they arent really your friends.
