Reporting Aggressive Drivers

Submitted by MHanson on Thu, 06/21/2012 - 10:11am

I was riding South on Fort Washington Ave when I got run off the road yesterday by a driver turning onto the GW bridge at 179th St. from Fort Washington.  I managed to get their plate number, but not the make of the SUV.  Is it worth reporting this driver?  Has anyone ever bothered to report an aggressive driver, and what was the outcome of reporting them?

Lost eyeglasses on the Brooklyn Bridge!

Submitted by AHendin on Thu, 06/21/2012 - 7:02am

I find this difficult to believe, but I suspect I somehow managed to, stupidly, leave my regular eyeglasses out of a protected space, on my bike, while cycling home Tuesday afternoon. I heard a clatter at some point, possibly past the halfway point heading for Brooklyn, before the southern anchorage, but when I stopped I didn't find any open pockets in my gear as I once did a couple of years ago, and it didn't occur to me that I could have left my freakin' GLASSES on my freakin' RACK, or, if I had done something so completely incomprehensible, that they could possibly have hung on from 91st St. When I got home and didn't find them I figured I must have left them at work. Disaster! Idiotic fried brain! HELP!

Going Tubeless

Submitted by MLevin on Wed, 06/20/2012 - 11:19am

All,

Does anyone have experience and/or thoughts about going tubeless.  I have a new Giant TCR Advanced which has tubeless compatible wheels (the P-SL0 wheel system) and after getting continious flats on my rear wheels I am thinking of trying tubeless.

The three flats I've gotten are of the same type as well.  Always occuring when cornering under hard effort, they seem to be pinch flats and my guess is related to the crappy Giant Tires, but not sure.  I'm positivite its not me as I never had issue with pinch flats on my old bike with Conti GP4000 tires.

Any help with either the flat or tubeless issue would be greatly appreciated.

12-25 vs 11-28

Submitted by MBruckner on Tue, 06/19/2012 - 2:24pm

Hi,

I've been asked to join a team for this weekend's Rapha Gentlemen's Ride. Apparently it's a 120+ mile race with 14k of climbing with 6 person teams over road that may be--for large stretches--unpaved/gravel. I'm going to use my 700 x 25 tires but am also considering changing my cassette.  I currently ride standard (53/39) chain rings with a 12-25 cassette. I was told to pick up at least a 27t cog.  It seems like Shimano used to make an Ultegra 12-27, but now only makes an 11-28.

Now the questions. How much of a difference will 2-3 extra teeth make? How much less smooth will the shifting be on an 11-28 vs a 12-25? What else should I be thinking about?
