Anyone up for an "A" pace grouping for 152 mile "Ride to Montauk"
I'm planning on doing the long version (the 152 miles of the 145 mile route :>) of the ride again, from GCT to Montauk, and being there at the start of the 5-6AM registration.
Will ride consistently, strong but not warp speed levels, and do short rest stops (all the better to enjoy the lighthouse, the food, the area, and maybe get an earlyish train back to NYC).
Anyone interested in joining me? Would love some good company.
"Classic" NYCC routes to show off to visitors
My sister, a very strong and competitive rider, is visiting me this weekend, race bike in tow. I have been trying to brainstorm a few NYCC routes that I think are the best intro to the wonderful cycling we have in our area. I'm looking for rides of about 50-80 miles with decent climbs and great scenery, and that definitely can accommodate leisurely stops for coffee (and/or muffins and/or beer) at some of the usual haunts.
I was thinking something along the lines of the following
GWB > River Road >Lakes > Blauvelt > Clausland/Tweed > Nyack/spoon > Piermont/bunbury's/Market > Observatory > 9W back to the bridge

Planning to head out on Satuday morning from Manhattan, around 8:30 AM. B-15 or so. May go as far as Rockaway....to there, round trip from Manhattan is close to 60 miles.
Across the Manhattan Bridge, on to Prospect Park West, along the water under the VZ. Anyone else game?
Ride to Montauk: Friday check-in = later 100 mile start in Babylon?
Hi - does anyone know the process for starting the 108 mile ride from Babylon if you've checked in the night before? The site says the checkin is 6-7, but if I've checked in can I show up at 8 and still do the ride? Reason I ask is there are a few trains from Penn that show up in Babylon between 7:30-8. The only train that gets in between 6-7 leaves penn at 4:53!!
Thanks
Matt
Looking for a bike for my 6'5'' friend.
Hi everyone...I'm looking for a road bike for a friend of mine who happens to be 6'5''. None of my local bike shops have bikes for rent or for purchase that would be appropriate for an indiviudal of this size.
Does anyone know where one can buy or rent a bike that would fit my friend? Or does anyone have a bike of such a size, and would be willing to sell that bike to my firiend?
Thank You.
Demonstration this Sunday...Traffic Snarls
There is to be a demonstration this Sunday afternoon. Participants will muster on W. 110th St. just above the park and then walk down Fifth Ave. to 79th St. "...at least 35 buses are expected." I don't know what time it will start, but word is they don't have a permit, so there's likely to be a police presence.
Happy Father's Day!!
Brooklyn to Bear Mtn Out and Back
Does anyone have a favorite cue sheet that they'd like to share? I've found a few in the ride library but I'd be glad for recommendations.
Thanks!
Lance - will it never end???!!!
No comment except that now we will likely not be able to enjoy watching him perform in Ironman Triathlons in Nice and Kona.
