Endurance sport Endocrinologist?
Can anyone recommend a good endocrinologist who is familiar with endurance athletes?
Riding to Wingdale NY on Sunday, July 21st -- Looking for Route Advice; riding companions
Hi - I'm riding up to Wingdale, NY in Dutchess County to my kid's summer camp and am looking for some route advice.
I live on W 100th street so my plan is to take the 1 train up to Van Cortland park and ride the saw mill river parkway bike path (south county trailway) to the North County Trailway to the putnam trailway and eventually on to a variety of roads that get me up into dutchess.
My naive attempt is here:

Any suggestions/alternatives apreciated.
Also, anyone interested in heading up the same direction is welcome company. I ride 18-20. You can take the train home from wingdale.
Thanks,
Josh
Should I Ride Today or Not? How Hot is Too Hot.
(Thanks to Charlie Collins for bringing this to our attention)
If you're a leader and somewhat responsible for encouraging (or discouraging) riding on a given day by proceeding with a ride, or cancelling it there is a good, objective criteria for deciding how much heat is possibly too much. NOAA/NWS publishes a heat index chart. The Heat Index is a measure of how hot it really feels when relative humidity is factored in with the actual air temperature.
How many clichés can you stuff into two sentences in a banal bike review?
What great satire! But it's not. My singleing this out has nothing to do with the bike being reviewed, just the writing: The Onion couldn't/wouldn't write it any differently.
"It’s a full carbon steed with oversized, thin-wall tubing that makes it stiff without being harsh, and compliant without feeling noodly. Indeed, it’s a solid all-around rig that could be raced for a furious hour at a Wednesday night criterium, and then ridden all day on a weekend epic into the mountains.

Event in Hamptons this weekend with Iride bicycles, Saturday the 20th, afternoon. Want to attend?
You know, Iride Italian Bicycles was asked to participate in "A Brunch with Bentley" event this weekend, and we would like more bicyclists to attend.
It will be a rather swanky event.

The brunch event will take place on the grounds of a large estate near Bridgehampton, NY. There will be Bentleys, jet services, exclusive clothing designers, Cohiba cigars, rare scotch, and exotic high performance bicycles by Iride.
Here is last year's event:
Things NOT to say on a ride....
I'm sure everyone has a fascinating anecdote become deontological maxim here, but a recent ride reminded me that people shouldn't shout "ANDALE!!! ANDALE!!!" when approaching intersections with stop signs.... :-)
Credit Cards on Bear Mountain
Just FYI folks, the water/soda machines on top of Bear Mountain now take credit and debit cards.
(And they only charge an extra 10 cents for using your plastic....)
River Terrace in Beacon Appears to Be Closed
A few of us yesterday tried to go to the River Terrace in Beacon after a ride, and we found it to be closed... and not for the day. It appeared to be undergoing some construction or renovations.
I saw that the A-SIG graduation ride is going there on Saturday so perhaps considering an back-up location might be wise.
Get out of the way of my Citibike
or I'll ring my bell at you. Ding ding ding ding.
A call out to Brian Sullivan and Team Dirt!
Truly brilliant NJ Hardpack ride today. For those of us whose souls require periodic infusions of dirt, this was salvation. Beautifully crafted. An effing joy.
I so love a cue "con cohones". And I only did the "B" version!
