Miles of Trees: VA Beach to NYC October 11 - 14
Dear fellow Riders & NYCC Members:
I have just become a member of NYCC after registering for the first time to participate in the ENY 2013 (looking forward!). I have been cycling for three years and I love it! Especially the various century rides I have been participating in. I am looking forward to making friends here and to meeting riders to hit the road with on occasion.
Take your bike on Amtrak!
More fantastic news from Amtrak: A pilot program is starting to test out bikes on board the Ethan Allen route.

Bikes on NJT to Princeton?
Hi all. As I recall, bikes are once again okay on outbound/off peak NJT trains these days, right? (thanks in large part to Neile W's efforts--thank you, thank you!). Does anybody have a view on whether I'm likely to be ok taking my bike from Penn Station to Princeton Junction on a Thursday morning? Website implies yes, but thought I'd take a poll.
As background, I'm planning an NYC to DC ride over just two days, and I think I'll need a transit leg in there to keep it fun-long rather than 'i hate this'-long. Current plan is early AM train to Princeton Junction, then 120mi to Holtwood, PA on day 1, followed by 100mi to DC on day 2.
Thanks!
Sections of the Traiways have been repaired
Of note, the odious stretch north of Lawernce Street at Dobbs Ferry.
Also south of Elmsford. However, the latter has a few foot length sections which have been excavated but not yet filled. You can cut to the side of these without a problem.
But when will we see the Van Cortlandt Park section user friendly? To grant passage to a runner going the opposite way on the first wide, muddy piece I cut to the less than perfect eastern side only to find ruts dug up by motorized wheels. Avoiding these I touched foliage on the fence only to find poison ivy growing in the mix. No good deed goes unpunished.
Velosurance
"As the name would indicate, they specialize in providing insurance coverage to cyclists and their bikes. The A-Rated insurance company was founded last year by Dave Williams. He is a lifelong cyclist and got the idea after spending 20 years in the insurance industry watching customer after customer be disappointed with their home owner’s or renter’s insurance when it came to bicycle coverage."
Bike Law Attorney
Does anyone have any recommendations for an attorney with some bicycle law experience?
Thanks

Hiya,
Thursday morning's 'On the Dole' ride has been canceled due to the extraordinary heat. I'll be at a city cooling center after cashing my unemplyment check...
