I currently lead a Monday Central Park C training ride twice or three times around the park starting at 6:15 am from the 72nd and Fifth Avenue entrance to the Park AND a Wednesday C ride down the Greenway to Battery Park City and back starting at 6:15 from the Eleanor Roosevelt statue at 72nd and Riverside.

I would like to enlarge the ride, encouraging everyone to join (which, I know, means talking more people into getting up at that time!) AND have a way to deal with the wide variation of cyclists' experience and speeds which often happens with C rides.

Congratulations to the NYCC participants in LI Rando 200k !

I was so happy for, and proud of, our club's riders who did the 200k.

shared house -- Berkshires

Hi.

A friend and I rented a house in Great Barrington for Memorial Day Weekend.  If you are in need of lodging and are interested in possibly sharing the house, please reach out to me.  (Four bedrooms, three baths, lovely kitchen, great house…)   The most it would cost is $250 for the weekend but it could be a little less depending on the final number of people.

Ronkonkoma 200K postmortem(s)

Submitted by NWeissman on Sun, 05/11/2014 - 11:30pm

People,

On Saturday, did 105 miles of the Ronkonkoma 200K (127 miles) before DNF-ing.

Haven't ridden longer than century since 2006, but believe it's better to fail hard than succeed easy.   (Still sucks.)

Anyway, you learns more from your failures than 'cesses, so here's my postmortimer on what went right and wrong.

PS> Another dozen NYCC-ers took part, so please feel free add your own PMs to this thread.

Here's a toast to Carol Waaser, Annaline Dinkelmann, & Sosi Ermarkaryan for leading a lovely Mothers Day all-women's ride to State Line Park in New Jersey. Excellent instruction on fine points of dealing with traffic etc, beautiful day, excellent bunch of 14?  16? obedient club members = a model NYCC ride.

Long Island Railroad Bicycle Policy, 2014 (New and Improved)

Submitted by NWeissman on Sun, 05/11/2014 - 9:39am

People,

LIRR Bicycle Policy changes actually went into effect in February, but didn't make it to the website until last week.

These are real improvements that opens up Eastern Nassau and all of Suffolk to individual cyclists, leaders and co-listings with local clubs like LI Randonneurs.

Submitted by TAnderson on Sat, 05/10/2014 - 9:55pm

Does anyone know of any self-service carwashes in manhatten that I could wash my bike? My bath is too small and no options to do it outside on the sidewalk.

Just want kt make it easy for myself for a wash.

Thanks.
