Early Saturday ride(s) to Piermont/Nyack, any interest?
Anyone interested in Saturday rides to Piermont/Nack that start early? Thinking 6:30AM start at the NJ side of the GWB, river road, alpine, 9W, hills of Nyack, return on 9W. Distance between 50 and 60mi, between 3000 and 4000 ft elevation, and +/- A19. I did this last weekend and I was back at the bridge by 10AM.

I am trying to find the link for the NYCC membership sign up and discount for the above but I can't locate it.
Where should I be looking?
Thanks!

How 'bout a get well cheer for the walking wounded
Tough day at rock creek – so glad it wasn’t worse.
Poor Betsy Hafkin, see other thread, a hole in the road on River Road grabbed her wheel sent her flying.
Jackie Scalisi – road disappeared below her wheel up in the Catskills– her and Gil Yang’s – both went flying. Jackie fractured a couple of ribs – not displaced - whew. Also has a partially collapsed lung. Gil seems to have some bangs and bruises and cracked helmet – no signs of concussion – hard head, that guy.
Liz Greenstein went down in Croton Falls, fractured her clavicle in two places along with big road rash.
Bah humbug!
Get well soon – it'll be lonely on the road without you!
Riding back from Port Washington, Long Island
Not too familar with this part of Long Island. Does anyone have any recommendations on a riding back from Port Washington to North Brooklyn? I am looking for the shortest/fastest possible route. Thanks!

Eastern Copperhead on River Road
Right before Alpine Police Station a little copperhead slithered over the road. Heavy cycling traffic today made this a bad choice for any snake. But nevertheless, do not attempt to pick up a snake to carry to safety (as somebody tried to do today, thinking it was a Garter snake until I yelled at him) unless you are absolutely certain you identified the snake correctly. A copperhead is a venomous viper. They are reluctant to inject all their poison if they can help it and would try to either "only" bite or inject a little poison at first but the bite of a copperhead is extremly painful. A poisonous bite will lead to throbbing, swelling and nausea - depending on the amount of venom. Although bites are rarely fatal, medical attention should be sought.
