Lesson learned - bring at least one new tube with you on a ride

Submitted by Antonio P on Mon, 06/16/2014 - 9:58am
Interesting weekend. Rode out to Nyack with my usual gear, two tubes, hand pump, etc. A couple of miles into the ride I got a flat. Pulled the glass shard out and replaced with a spare that I incidentally patched a couple of months ago. A few miles later, flat again. Turns out the patch did not hold. Replaced with the other spare, which was also patched and also held air for a few miles. Finally borrowed a new tube, but it had a short stem and I couldn't get the pressure above 60 psi. You can guess what happened next, pinched flat before I could get to a bike shop. Tried patching that tube, but that only lasted a few miles but enough to get me to the ranger station at alpine where I was generously provided with a tube with a long enough stem.

In search of some legal help...Fort Lee NJ

Submitted by MattB on Mon, 06/16/2014 - 8:10am

Long story short I am being charged with being on the GW bridge when it was closed for the accident...so I am seeking some suggestions or advice since I will need a lawyer for my case.  Does anyone know a criminal defense lawyer in Fort Lee that works within that system who I could get to represent me in my case?  I have a crystal clear record (up until now I guess) and it should be simply reduced to just a fine, but I want to make sure that I don't leave any room for anything else to come out of this.

Thanks in advance for any help in this matter,

...and you thought I was unrelievedly, unregenerately anti-cop

This weekend I saw something I had never, ever seen. In 44 years of cycling on Riverside Drive, I had never, ever once seen a driver stopped for speeding. I saw it this weekend.

I'm a big fan of 25mm. I don't know if I go faster but I butt definitely appreciates the smoother ride.

Father's Day morning workout ride

Submitted by DHudes on Thu, 06/12/2014 - 6:03pm

I put in a last minute ride for Sunday morning. It's something like a high B pace on an A route so I put it as an A ride. Lots and lots of climbing because I need to work on climbing. If you join me, please wait for me at the top I won't be THAT far behind.

I need to return home by 10:45 AM latest. I figure I can barely squeeze in all the miles and climbing if I start 7:15 AM from W72nd and Riverside.
