Seeking someone to join me as navigator/helper as I drive around this Friday morn thru mid-afternoon in a cargo van picking up food and supplies for Saturday's Ride to Montauk.
In return, you get a "comp" to that ride or another of his rides this year or next ( http://www.nycbicycleshow.com/Bike_Shows/Home.html ).

West Point Registration
Now that the Berkshires weekend has come and gone, it's time to think ahead...not that far ahead, actually! The rooms are filling and we have a limited number this year, so first come, first served. Please be aware that signing up and not continuing to Paypal to seal the registration with a payment does NOT guarantee you will have a room. So what are you waiting for? It will be another spectacular weekend of riding, swimming, eating, and mingling with others who have the same passion (READ: obsession) with cycling!
What to Do in a Car/Bike Crash -- Now in Gothamist
My not-for-profit Web site has been updated and improved. Please visit.
NYC Car Crash Resources
While NYCC has linked to the site on its Safety page, I want to make sure everyone knows it's there.
NYCCers (including Dr. Ed Fishkin and Steve Vaccaro) contributed mightily to my research.
Real-life testimonial: I recently needed the information myself, and it helped me keep my wits and make rational decisions at an irrational time. (No car involved; I'm fine.)
It's also good to know how to help others, in case you witness a crash.
Potential New Law in NJ
This info was in a recent release by the League of American Bicyclists with regard to their Bicycle-Friendly Communities rankings:
"...just last week we heard from the New Jersey Bike/Walk Coalition that a drop of 5 places in the rankings (highlighted by the coalition) was sufficient to unlock a “safe passing” bill in the legislature that had been stuck. A quick alert to our members in New Jersey generated welcome back-up to the Coalition members testifying in the New Jersey legislature –- and once again the outcome was a win for bicyclists: a four foot passing law passed out of Committee and onto the next stage."
Good work by our NJ colleagues!
Good Path for New Cyclist?
I am avid cyclist and am part of the Big Brother program of NYC and am trying to get it to rub off on my little. He is a freshman in high school and isn't a very experienced rider. I took him to Floyd Bennett Field which proved to be a very good learning place since the runways are super wide and not a lot of other people around. We rode for over 6 miles without incident so I think he is ready to try a little longer ride. Isn't there an old railroad path up in the bronx near Cortland Park somewhere? Anyone know a good place I could park the car and access this route with him without having to ride on trafficed roads because he isn't ready for riding with traffic.
Thanks!
How's CitiBike doin'? Don't ask Eden Weiss. Ask Eben Weiss.
