Biking mine road in Harriman

Submitted by jgus on Fri, 05/30/2014 - 1:51pm
Has anyone successfully tried to bike mine road from seven lakes through up to 9w/storm king? Looks like it might be closed with a barrier that would stop cars and I'm guessing it's at least partly gravel. In theory looks like a great route to take in order to end up at Brecon, but in practice?

for riding on the shoulder of the Palisades Parkway. Cop car blocked the right lane, lights on and backing up traffic for a mile. I guess I picked the wrong afternoon to drive to the Piermont Bike shop.

Ride to Montauk Place Available

Submitted by allisoncasey on Thu, 05/29/2014 - 7:31pm

Just in time to carb-load for Saturday... I'm registered for the 150 mile distance, but have unfortunately found myself injured and unable to ride. Anyone interested? I believe you can ride one of the shorter distances, you just have to tell them that morning. Ideally I'd like to recoup some of the cost, but at this point I really just don't want the place to go to waste...

hippie loop

Submitted by MDeTemple on Thu, 05/29/2014 - 2:48pm

I wanted to do the hippie loop again. can anyone tell what is involved with with the metro north?

This is on my usual commute route. Anyway, a number of years ago, the 90th street exit on the west side of the park was closed to cars; it's now supposed to be access for pedestrians, bikes, etc., only.

On the loop drive side, white vertical pylons narrow the pavement from 2 lanes worth of width to 1, and there's signage indicating "90th Street Exit Closed". On the CPW side, access to the right-hand side of the roadway is blocked by one of those blue police sawhorses, and the left side is open.
