Last nights' club meeting

Good program... and I liked the new venue... good food, more on-tap choices, a pleasant change of pace from Annie Moore's... it had a nice, intimate feel, very conducive to pre-program socializing... well done Eden!

Roll, Liggett, and Sherwen -- time for these "dopers" to be retired

Submitted by RLMeyer on Wed, 07/09/2014 - 12:05am

Having watched the Tour de France for over 10 years, I am finding it especially difficult this year to endure the commentary of Bob, Phil, and Paul.  Besides being sick of their now stale and repetitive patter, it's hard to move on from the doping era when three of the key Lance apologists are on the air.

Bob -- does "dope" (now the green kind)

Paul -- knew about the "dope"

Phil -- is a "dope"

Looking for good roads heading WSW of the GW

Submitted by dfagen1 on Tue, 07/08/2014 - 8:13pm

Trying to map out a ride to Montclair, NJ from NYC but am unfamiliar with that area.  Looking for suggestions for any solid (or just passable) roads going in that general direction from the GW Bridge.

If you ever once ran a red light, you must see this.

Rear derailleur hanger question

Submitted by JFinder on Mon, 07/07/2014 - 2:28pm

I'd like to buy a spare one. Do I just look on Amazon for "Ultegra rear derailleur hanger" or is it more specific than that?  Is it different for each model year, or for 9 vs. 10 speeds?  Please tell me how to shop on line for the item I need.

Today's my day for lame questions on the Message Board.  Thanks for your help.

Cracked rim?

Submitted by aron on Mon, 07/07/2014 - 1:16pm

I'm riding on Alexrims, AS-1 (700cc) and discovered  a crack in the rim (as though something pushed its way to the surface).

My last time out was Thursday night, and this morning, I found the crack, and a flat to boot.

Several questions:

1) How common is this? (They have about 4500 miles on them)

2) Was the flat a result of the cracked rim, or the cracked rim a result of the flat? (It was pouring that night, so its hard to tell when in the ride my wheel got clobbered)

3) 99% of my riding is on city streets. Should I consider getting different rims (more sutable to NYC streets)

Ride listing language

If a club ride is "no-drop," you can just say that and all will be clear. The sweep rider and everybody will wait for everybody.

However, what's the best way to say "no-drop policy is not in effect" in normal English?

"We will drop you" would be a little harsh, and sounds like a Queen lyric.
