SIG question

Submitted by GeorgeArcarola on Wed, 06/25/2014 - 9:45am

With the exception of the twelve (12) weeks from the first Saturday in March until the weekend before Memorial Day, I talk about the SIGs more often than a politician makes promises. For some reason, people I haven't ridden with before keep showing up on rides that I lead (talk about foolhardiness), or other rides that I sign up for. Or even worse, they stand next to me at the bar during a club meeting for more than 6.7 seconds. In any of these cases, I am most likely in full SIG-marketing mode... "Did you take a SIG?"... "If so, who'd you ride with?"... "Thinking of taking a SIG next spring?"... etc., etc... I can only imagine how annoying it is...

If you have ever thought about cycling the Blue Ridge Parkway . . . .

Submitted by DSabbarese on Tue, 06/24/2014 - 3:40pm

I just completed a 10-Day tour (travel day, 4 days cycling, rest day, 3 more cycling days, travel day) of the BRP this past Sunday. I toured with Paul Wood of Black Bear Adventures. Paul is a native North Carolinian, a 3-time NC State Road Cycling Champion, a fierce athlete/cyclist with an unabiding passion for the BRP, and an all-around "Good 'ole boy". It was perhaps the finest cycling I have ever done, and I've cycled lotsa places.

Is it similar to southbound (i.e., narrow, traffic, sometimes no shoulders, bad pavement)?
