Last minute ride listing.

Submitted by michael on Sat, 07/19/2014 - 6:37pm

I just posted a C-13 ride to Harsdale for tomorrow. This leaves very little time for the ride to get posted and seen by the masses so I figured I'd mention it here as well.

I haven't been able to ride for a while (stress fracture) and I'm looking to get started again with a nice, gentle C ride.

The ride departs from the Loeb Boathouse at 9:00 am.

Can anyone confirm that Fort Washington is repaved?

Submitted by BVan Nieuwenhoven on Fri, 07/18/2014 - 10:12am

It's on the resurfacing schedule this week:
http://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/downloads/pdf/mnresurf.pdf

Of course, they'll repave up to 169th, but they're of course milling the road up to 179th north of there, whomp whomp

It would be pretty interesting (like a freaking miracle) if they could clean up the UCI…

Talansky is diagnosed with serious injuries from his crashes in stage 7

Submitted by jbenepe on Thu, 07/17/2014 - 6:57pm

Talansky left the Tour this morning with injuries. But a hard look at his diagnosis, sacroiliitis, reveals that it is caused by crashes, and can lead to lung infection, which he has

Oddly enough, I have the same injury, so learning about his diagnosis was very helpful to me. Too bad it's too late to do anything about it , at least in my case.

In his case, recovery will be slow, and is not so clearcut. Sad. He's now the fourth top rider to abandon the Tour due to injuries, and the second one after colliding with Simon Gerrans.

The condition may also be the cause of his lung infection. Thus, this is something we all might be aware of, being cyclists. Sacroillitis often is caused by being hit by a car!!!!

I recall some group rides ending at one place up high over the RR station that had a large patio - - name?

Any others good? Main St. looks like it has quite a few.

Bike Tours in France

Submitted by anniewong on Wed, 07/16/2014 - 11:35pm

Am looking to bike in France in early October. Does anyone have a good tour group they've used besides VBT or Backroads that was really good and not super expensive?

Merci!
