CP CYCLING HAZARD
While doing laps this morning, a guy in front of me had a nasty fall just after the high speed descent where the road levels out next to the lake (this is on the West Side, just north of the 72nd street access road to the park. Seems that his tire caught the crack in the asphalt which caused his bike to go down and slide sideways for several feet. Very fortunately, he got up on his own and walked away with no visible injuries and only a flat tire. Just a reminder to be careful in this area!
The Leftovers
Anyone else happen to catch the 2nd episode of the new HBO series "The Leftovers"?
IMHO it's a pretty awful show but you might be interested to know that the club's home away from home, The Runcible Spoon, made an appearance in the fictional town of Mapleton, NY.
Know you know.

River Rd Pesticide Spraying
Two days in a row on training rides I had encountered areas of River Rd that were officially closed due to pesticide spraying. Yesterday it was at the bottom of Alpine/Top of Boat Basin hill and this morning it was at the top of Dyckman. So just a heads up for anyone who is planning to ride that today.

Any exercise is better than no exercise. However, to really improve your fitness level, you have to exercise intensely. If you do not feel burning in your muscles and shortness of breath at least two or three times a week when you exercise, you are not getting a strong enough stimulus to make yourself significantly faster, stronger and have greater endurance.
