Bike shops on our favorite routes

Submitted by Cyclegalnycc on Thu, 07/31/2014 - 4:55pm

I try to patronize all the local bike shops when possible.  I have my fave (as we all do), but thought I'd comment on the refurbished Tenafly bike shop on 501.  Stopped by yesterday to check it out, and the new owners were super friendly, even inviting us to stay for a BBQ lunch (which I would have, but then would've needed a taxi up Churchill...).  Their hours are also more user-friendly.  Check them out!

Any info on the road condition - 9W south of Bear Mountain?

Submitted by CWaaser on Wed, 07/30/2014 - 7:36pm

I don't have time to scout for my upcoming ride.  I know that during the spring there was a big pothole in the southbound lane of 9W on the descent south of Bear Mountain.  I heard someone had a bad crash there.  Can anyone give an update on whether it's still there or has been fixed?  If it's still there, can anyone give an approximate location?

Thanks for your help.

Visiting NY 18 - 22 Aug from Sydney Australia

Submitted by rehayes on Tue, 07/29/2014 - 1:21am

Hi

Reub Hayes is my name.  I am a keen road cyclist and would like to do a few rides when I visit NY in August.  I'm staying at Sherry Netherlands beside Central Park and have arranged a training bike 19-22 Aug.  I ride 200+kms (130miles) per week. I'm around B17/18+ on club scale.  Are there any rides in the vicinity I can join over this period?

Cheers  Reub
