Come join us as we spend part of our Memorial Day holiday punishing ourselves on the hills of Staten Island.

The first half of the trip is relatively benign as we work our way down to Tottenville for some delicious paninis from Towne Deli. Then the fun begins as we hit the hills on the return trip with climbs up Lighthouse, Longview, Douglas and Howard. All in all we've plotted out a metric century of fun on the roads of SI.

Please sign up on line and then e-mail me for a cue sheet if you'd like to join us. We're planning on catching the 7:30AM ferry from the Whitehall terminal in Lower Manhattan with coffee in hand. (That means arriving by 7:15AM.)

A ride through Bergen and Rockland counties with some scenic views a good amount of miles and a fair amount of climbing. Lunch at Bubbas Bagels of Wesley Hills after we climb Little Tor. After lunch, we'll ride around in Rockland for a bit and stop at Zishe's Homemade Bakery of Monsey for snacks for the ride back home which is more or less downhill until we climb back up the Bergen ridge to Manhattan.

Meet 8:30 AM at the Eleanor Roosevelt Statue. Return to NYC somewhere in the 5 or 6 PM time frame.

Bailouts:  not much on the way up; NJ Transit trains are not far off the route on much of the way back.

Send me a message if you would be interested in joining the tour.  It is described at http://www.makaluadventure.com/biking/lhasatokathmandu.htm and I am joining a group that begins in Kathmandu on the 28th of July and departs Kathmandu no earlier than August 18th.  There are a number of trekking companies offering this route.  The tour itself is a relative bargain, but getting to and from Nepal is not.

Anyone have any information on the Felt F24 road bike?  I am thinking of buying it for my 9 year old.
