Pancake ride - awesome!
Thanks Adrienne for leading a fantastic pancake ride today! It was definitely worth the ride to Ridgewood - they really are as big as hub caps, and were delicious.
And thanks to Bill for ferrying all the leftovers back to the city so that we didnt feel obligated to eat our entire orders (I only finished 1/3 of mine).
NJ bike paths
Hi everyone! So my wife just got herself a new bike...the first since she was a little girl living in the Midwest...and she's looking for a nice path somewhere to practice on. She's never ridden in traffic before so she's looking for a bike path where she can relearn how to ride and to get her legs under herself before trying to ride with her first traffic in city.
I'm not even sure if they exist out here, but I know back in the Midwest there were a good number of bike paths that just stretched on forever (at least in my child-like mind they stretched forever) into the woods and back out into a McDonalds...or something. If anybody has some nice peaceful routes we'd sure appreciate it.

Earlier Start Time for Tuesday's Program
Please be advised that this Tuesday's program will begin at 6:15PM. DOT Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan, is scheduled to speak briefly and introduce Josh Benson, DOT Director of Bicycle Programs, who will make a presentation about the DOT's bicycling initiatives, with Q&A to follow. Our sumptuous buffet dinner will be served immediately following the presentation, at about 7:30PM. We strongly suggest that you plan to arrive at 6:00PM to get a seat. If you are planning to join us for dinner, please e-mail me at [email protected] and put:"Dinner at the March Meeting" in the subject line, as we have to give Annie Moore's a head count. Thanks very much and we hope to see you on Tuesday.
TO A SIG Classic leaders--can you bring a couple spare tubes in the am to boat house?

Bike to Cold Spring Farmers' Market
If you are headed north on Rt. 9D, stop by the Cold Spring Farmers' Market in Garrison, NY 3 miles north of the Bear Mt. Bridge. During the winter they are indoors at the Philipstown Recreation Center. It's a great place to stop and grab a bite of freshly grown/produced food to eat. There are grab n' go sandwiches, hot soup, bread, cheese, apples, cider and more to eat and a big gym to sit in before you get back on the road! They are there Saturdays from 8:30-1:30. More details at csfarmmarket.org.
B SIG Groupings: We haven't forgotten you
What? You've enrolled in the B SIG and submitted your four lap qualification time but haven't heard about your grouping!? Do not despair!
There have been a few mix-ups re gettting the groupings distributed to all of the leaders. This means that a few leaders have not yet notified their groups. If you've still not learned of your SIG grouping by 5:00 today please email me: [email protected].
Bike insurance
For my trip with my bike to Cape Town, South Africa I tried to get insurance coverage or mu Giant Advanced 0. After a great deal email exchanges with our agent for Nationwide, Nationwide has eventually come back with an answer that Nationwide will only cover the bike in the USA and not overseas. Does anyone know which companies offer bike coverage for overseas trips?
BTW Nationwide was insisting that I provide the 14 digit VIN number for my bike which as we all know doesn't exist.
new to club, hope to join some rides, and maybe lead?
Hi There!
My name is Randy and I'm new to NYCC. I'm also a relatively new cyclist (8 months or so now..) and an experienced runner (I know, yuck..). I love sharing my running knowledge and lead a beginners run for my running club, and once I get out and meet some of you guys on rides I'd love to do the same for riding. I don't know if you guys have an excess of ride leaders or are hurting for more people to volunteer their time, but I'm totally into leading some C level rides.
Anyway, just wanted to say hi, and hope to see you guys out on the road sometime soon!
