Timing Self Test Rides in CP w/ Iphone App

Submitted by Sir Roger on Sat, 03/05/2011 - 11:22pm

Hi Guys.. kind of new member here.. I was in the park today chatting with some members about how to get a good time.. what with the Red Light situation.. and it just occurred to me that the Iphone app i regularly use to time distance and map my daily rides would work really well, as it knows when I am stopped and does not add that to my ride total.
So I can set it on go , do 4 laps with light stops and it will figure out my riding time.

I have tried out a few of these mapping Apps and settled on the paid version of Cyclemeter (the best 5 bucks I have spent in a while).

CP Petition Drive Tactics

Submitted by RTorok on Sat, 03/05/2011 - 9:02pm

Was only able to devote 30 mins today in CP collecting petition signatures, but had decent success in getting 16 signatures in that time (about one every two minutes). I wanted to share some tactics that seemed to work with those who may be inclined to undertake the same:

1) If possble, bring two cute little girls with you that will help disarm targets from the typical New Yorker inclination to otherwise igonre you (alternatively two cute NYCC cyclists could also work, but target audience would probably be more limited).

Indoor Cycling Studio - Recommendations

Submitted by DRosenberg on Sat, 03/05/2011 - 8:18pm

When it is raining and I want to stay dry, I do spin at NY Sports Club. Anyone know of an indoor cycling studio geared to real cyclists. I have read about cycling studios that base workouts on power meters. Is there anything like that in the city. The only studio I know of is soulcycle, but I understand that's not exactly what I talking about. Does anyone know exactly what Soucycle or Flywheel do?

Madge B-Day Ride

Submitted by HWoods on Sat, 03/05/2011 - 7:36pm

Well, it's looking really rainy tomorrow, and we need a sunshine for this ride. Check the mb by 8:30 tomorrow am, but at this point it isn't looking good. If wet, we'll cancel and go next sunday.

I had left the gloves (Black, sz M, Cyclone logo) and sunglasses (red & black, photochromic lenses -- http://www.bikemania.biz/La_Dolce_Vita_Tomcat_Cycling_Sunglasses_p/dolce...) on top of a table in the meeting area (the A-19 section, to be precise). After being away for 5mins toward the end of the A-19 meeting, they were gone!?!? Thanks in advance for your help and any potential leads. Best, Ilian (646-301-7275)

Lost my red windbreaker

Submitted by PWSutton on Sat, 03/05/2011 - 6:46pm

One of those bad days where I missed the ride, then dropped my red mountain hardware windbreaker somewhere between the R spoon bathroom and the GWB on the way back. S3 frame was great though...if there was something positive.

Anyway I would be very grateful if someone found it and lets me kno

Thanks.

Patrick
