Major Coverage of CP Crime Spike

Submitted by mg on Wed, 03/09/2011 - 12:30am

Did anyone hire a pr agent? Major coverage today in the NY Post and on NY1 about spike in crime in CP and other parks.
This is very effective argument to get cops back to serious work and stop harassing cyclists.

Perhaps comparing ourselves to the off-leash dog walking folks has been bad for the dog walkers...

Ride Leader Tally for 2010- please check it carefully

Submitted by abrowning on Tue, 03/08/2011 - 6:28am

Due to changes in personnel and changes in the website, we know that the tally is flawed. Some leaders may not be shown at all. Please check it carefully, and send me the correct number of rides lead. We want everyone to get the gift they deserve. Hopefully this year we won't have the same problem. Tally can be found in the eweekly and on the home page of the website. Apologies. Numbers should be emailed to [email protected].

Well, folks, yesterday or so, it was Rep. Anthony Weiner, Sen. Schumer's protege, who said he would rip up the bike lanes if he were mayor (and he wants to be, having lacked only the courage to run last year).

Today it is Mrs. Schumer, aka Iris Weinshall, yes, the ex- commissioner of the DoT. Any doubts now about her (un)appreciation for the arguments put forward by the cycling community when she was commissioner.

But, of course, surely it's a mere coincidence that the Schumers just happen to live on the very street that had a lane taken from drivers and turned over to cyclists that is the subject of this lawsuit.

A-Classic training this Thursday 3/10 at 6 a.m.

Submitted by EMaynard on Mon, 03/07/2011 - 11:04pm

Hi:

This is a posting for A-Classic riders and leaders who want to get some extra riding in before the weekend.

We'll leave at 6 a.m. from Riverside Drive and 120th St.

The plan is to go over the bridge, up River Road to Alpine, back on 9W.

Cold or rain will cancel the ride. I'll post the night before to confirm whether it's on or not.

Looking forward to it!

Two identical bikes; his 'n hers @$750/ea. Both blue, both include rear rack.
Well maintained by club ride leaders. Less than one year old. Quite capable bikes
Buying even-more capable Bike Fridays to fly with. Result? With eight bikes between us,
there's no room for us to store so many bikes in our Coop's bike room.

Flooding of the bike path in Flushing Meadow Park

Submitted by WKinn on Mon, 03/07/2011 - 8:09pm

Flooding of the bike path in Flushing Meadow Park, next to Meadow Lake(southwest section) has been a problem for many years now.

It would be helpful if everyone fill out this form and complained about the drainage issue next to Meadow Lake
