from the DOT about CP
Thank you for your email to the Department of Transportation regarding cyclists being ticketed in Central Park.
Under New York State law and New York City traffic rules, bicyclists are subject to the same regulations as drivers of motor vehicles. Bicyclists who fail to observe these rules are subject to a summons if observed by a police officer. Enforcement of these regulations in Central Park is under the jurisdiction of the Police Department.
Changing the signals to flashing red or yellow to accommodate bicyclists is not feasible because it would impact pedestrian safety.
Cycling Camp San Diego - I just got back
I just got back last week from the one week camp that is held in Fallbrook (north of San Diego) and I'd be willing to share my experience with anyone who would like to know more. I've attended a few cycling boot camps in the past few years. The idea of getting in some warm weather miles while it's freezing in NYC really appeals to me. The owner of CCSD is Robert Panzera (former pro racer, author, trainer, tri-athlete, etc.) and he runs a neat cycling camp. I attended the Base Camp. The emphasis is on cycling, and value. No fancy inns, no gourmet dining, you're too tired to do any sightseeing.
Greenway
Has anybody used the greenway as an alternative to cp b/w 7-9 am. If so, how busy has it been.
Nonprofit ride in the Berkshires - 5th Annual Mass BikePike Tour
Hi all,
I'm helping out with promoting the charity ride benefiting the MassBike Coalition (MA's advocacy organization) - the 5th Annual Mass BikePike Tour. Each year this 4-day tour explores a different part of our state, and this year we start in Northampton and go straight into the scenic Berkshires. I know the Berkshires is a popular destination for New Yorkers, and here's a great way to enjoy the area. I've pasted on some information - and feel free to ask questions here as well. Thanks for reading!!

A19 SIG loops tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. Central Park
Meet at Tavern on the Green (at the west loop road) for 3 loops around Central Park. There are sometimes several groups forming there, just ask for me. The pace will be moderate, it will be very cold. Dress warmly, lots of layers (I use hand and feet warmers in this sort of weather). Please email me at [email protected] so I can look out for you. I will be leaving at 6 a.m. sharp.
A19 SIG Training in Prospect Park
I am one of the A19 SIG leaders and I will be leading rides in Prospect Park in the early mornings on most Tuesdays and Thursdays. The first ride will be tomorrow morning at 6am for an hour of riding. We will meet at the Grand Army Plaza entrance a few minutes before 6am and try to roll off at 6am. We will work on conditioning and paceline skills. We will also do intervals or hill repeats on occasion. These rides will be on the ride listing soon. I didn't submit them to the list until this morning, so they haven't posted yet. These rides will be for A19 SIG riders, but anyone is welcome. Please have lights on your bike since it will still be dark when we start.
seeing red about ticket blitz
I am surprised that more people aren't up in arms about the ticketing blitz in Central park. At least people should show up in mass for the community meeting on March 14 at the Unitarian church at 160 central park west at 76 street. I have become afraid to cycle in New York City and especially in Central Park.
Tour of Battenkill Preveiw Ride?

Seeking Social Network Savvy Member
Okay, so I'm 65 years old and I have no idea how to make something "go viral." But I know things do go viral and I know some of you young, tech-savvy members know how to do it. Please contact me if you can help me plan a social network/YouTube type campaign that will assist the NYCC in its advocacy efforts.
Email me if you're willing to help: [email protected]
Thanks,

NYCCer seeks SONYor FUJITSU laptop owner help - - a few minutes use of external AC adapter
Well, I do use this laptop for cycling info . . so yes, it's a stretch of a post - - but would really really help me bigtime to figure out if my "no power issue" is due to a dead external AC adaptor OR a more serious malfunction within the laptop (
dang!). There are supposed to be a wide range of SONY and FUJITSU laptops with a compatible adapter.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
