Bike Rentals for C SIG
Can anyone recommend where in Manhattan a friend of mine can rent a bike so she can join the C level SIG class with me this spring? She wants to try riding but doesn't want to invest in a bike just yet. Thanks for any suggestions you can offer!
Bicycle checkpoints on 8th and 9th ave bikelanes this AM
Apparently ticketing for people running red lights or riding the wrong way in the bike lane, but may also have been checking for other things, like bells
How to videos on basic bicycle maintenance
How to videos on basic bicycle maintenance...
Does NYCC have a library of these up on youtube yet?
Cleaning and lubing a chain
Checking need for chain replacement
Replacing a chain
Truing a wheel
Changing a flat tire
Replacing a cassette
Changing brake and derailleur cables
Changing and adjusting brake pads
Installing new handlebar tape
Video cameras and camera tripods must be abundantly available in the group with all the kids. Microsoft MovieMaker Live is a simple and free editing software that enables one to learn editing and perform editing within about 60 minutes. Placement of videos on youtube is free.
So....maybe these are already up on youtube and all that is needed is a NYCC page to list the links to the best videos?
Sunday STS A Level Series: Need Ride Leaders (and riders)
We are in the process of creating a Sunday "A" level Spring Training Series. The planning is off to a late start, but we are moving quickly on it.
If you are interested in being a ride leader and assisting with the format and routes of the series please contact me ASAP. The board needs to vote on it's inception this Tuesday night at the club meeting. Ride leaders, ride dates, routes and Metro North usage must be prepared prior to Tuesdays vote.
The plan is to start March 13th and run through May 22nd. As a ride leader you will not need to commit to all the weekends, but instead pick the dates that work for you. We will start with shorter rides that will get progressively longer and harder through the season.
Our dear, considerate friend Steve Cuozzo has a new website
I find his anti-DOT and anti-cycling rants irksome, as I mentioned at the January club meeting.
While I was composing a rebuttal yesterday to this bit of nonsense, I noticed he hadn't bought his domain name.
So I picked it up for two years ($15) and I'm redirecting it to Transportation Alternatives.
HA HA
(Told all the local newspapers and blogs as well)
NYCC Message Board search/archive?
So this is my first time on the site since it changed. This is weird. LOL
Looks nice though.
Is there a way to search the archives here? I can't find the "search" button.
CP training
Thanks very much for all the efforts described below. I will be sure a petition circulates next week at the first CRCA race, although I'm sure DJordan is already on it.
Meanwhile, would I be crazy to try some short (3 minute) intervals in the park this morning? Have cyclists still been getting tickets in the past week or so?
Thanks You Party Pictures

The good news: he's not wearing spandex.
The bad news: he's portrayed as Pinocchio riding a bike.
