Cyclist critical after car plows into him, throws him in the air
A 53-year-old bicyclist was hit and flung into the air by a luxury sedan as he was riding along a Chinatown street, witnesses said.
The man was crossing Canal street on his gray mountain bike towards Broadway when he was hit by the Jaguar as it was driving east on Canal, witnesses said.
The impact sent the man crashing over the car, landing on the pavement in a pool of his own blood, according to people at the scene.
"It was very sudden and unexpected," said Mohd, a 15-year-old teen from Queens. "He was unconscious, not moving," he added.
Don't tell me I don't have the interest of all you men and women at heart
Old Croton Railway State Park - condition?
Google Maps is flogging the Old Croton Railway State Park as a north-south bike route along the river, starting around Yonkers and running up through Westchester. One website says it's unpaved. Is it usable by road bikes? Is it in good enough condition for 28mm tires or wider? Thanks.
Tour de Queens 2011 Needs Riding Marshals
Hi NYCC,
Transportation Alternatives is holding the 4th Annual Tour de Queens on July 10th, and we are in need of Riding Marshals to help keep participants safe on our 20 mile tour of the beautiful borough! The start/end location is in Flushing Meadows Corona Park and the tour will pass through the neighborhoods of Corona, Forest Hills, Glendale, Ridgewood, Maspeth, Sunnyside, Woodside, and Jackson Heights. Marshals need to arrive at 8am and should be on their way home by 3pm. There will be a rest stop in Forest Park about half way through the ride. You can see what it's all about by checking out this video!
Manchester NH
We are going on a couples weekend (sorry kids) July 9th to Manchester Village VT- the Green Mountains. The people who I am riding with are C riders (maybe C rider wannabe's) and they went out and bought new Cannondale bikes for the occasion.
I would love to get a couple of 10 to 30 miles relatively flat miles to ride with them.
Also any restaurants, hike or activity recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much Dave
Ride - Tuesday - A20+ 9.00 am - Little Tor/flexible

Tarrytown Gourmet Market - CLOSING
Went through Tarrytown on a ride yesterday and was surprised to find the excellent gourmet market that is a regular SIG stop going out of business. Tragic! Also disappointed I wasn't closer to home so I couldn't stock up on fancy tea and olive oil at bargain basement prices...
Hopefully something else nice will open up in that space, but in the meantime plan on another stop in Tarrytown or on the main drag in Sleepy Hollow.
