Riverside Drive-COP CAUTION

Submitted by AResnick on Thu, 06/30/2011 - 6:34pm

It looks like the NY City police are more concerned with us going thru red lites on Riverside Drive;

than they are with cars blowing thru red lights in midtown; or hitting pedestrians or cyclists!

On Thursday AM a small group of cyclist were stopped and WARNED(but not ticketed) on Riverside near Columbia.  The officer expressed "this is a warning BUT we are going to start"...

grrrr

SEAT POST, Besides tube diameter, how does one choose?

Submitted by Rmarcus on Thu, 06/30/2011 - 3:19pm

Looking to "perhaps"  swap out my seat post for something a bit lighter on my 1980 Bianchi.

I understand that the Post diamter must fit the seat tube, but with so many to choose from how can I make an educated decision besides cost? There seems to be so many angle or off set options etc

How many carry a spare and any advice on emergency derailleur hangers? Should they be periodically inspected/replaced?

Woodstock NY Trip Recommendations

Submitted by dvisoky on Thu, 06/30/2011 - 10:00am

We are going for a weekend to Woodstock NY.  Does anyone have a favorite route between 50 and 60 Miles they could refer.  I have a Garmin so if I could get the file that would be great.

Also any restaurant, hikes or things to do recommendations would be appreciated as well.  Thank you dave

Research shows noseless saddle helps prevent erectile dysfunction

“There’s as much penis inside the body as outside,” Dr. Schrader told me. “When you sit on a regular bike saddle, you’re sitting on your penis.”

Interesting read. Thoughts? How many of you ride a noseless saddle?

Sports drink

Submitted by BMirell on Wed, 06/29/2011 - 8:16pm

I haven't bought Cytomax (my drink of choice) in awhile (the 80 something serving bottle lasts me many months) and have just discovered that it now contains Stevia, an awful tasting sugar substitute. Does anyone have a favorite sports drink (not recovery drink) that doesn't contain this natural but vile tasting addition...?
