Touring out West - Oregon, Colorado, California
My wife and I are trying to find a A level tour out west to do in July. We would have seven days. One day to fly and reach the start point. Five days biking. Then, one day to get home. We were thinking about Oregon, Colorado or Northern California. In particular, Oregon. We are looking for a naturalist setting.
Ideally, the start and end point would be near an airport or at least reachable by public transportation or shuttle from the airport.
To economize, we are looking to have a self-guided trip (i.e. no van support). Or if we had some directions, we would strap on some panniers and do it ourselves. If it were a supported trip, we'd like it not fancy.
Did you buy Gala tickets that you can't use?
My wife and I would like two tickets to the 75th Anniversary Gala. If you bought one or two tickets to the Gala that you find you cannot use, please email me at [email protected]. It would be nice to be able to go.
3 hour ride on Friday afternoon...or if bad weather...Saturday?
Hi,
I need to do a training ride (IM Kentucky in August). I would prefer to do it tomorrow afternoon (3pm? Summer Fridays!), but if weather is bad I could go on Saturday (early...7.30) Is anyone interested in 3 hr ride tomorrow or Saturday, June 25th? 1.5hrs out on 9W, turnaround and back to Central Park? Hoping to average around 17mph and would love some company for the ride.
If interested, email me at [email protected]

Central New Jersey Crossing ride on 6/25/11
Updated info for the Central New Jersey Crossing ride, on 6/25/11:
As of Thursday, weather looks good. Check this topic for any cancellations due to rain or thunderstorms or any additional info.
Unfortunately, NJ Transit has gotten a bit more strict with bicycles in the last few weeks. As a result, allowing a bicycle group of our size on the train will be at the discretion of the conductors. They may limit us to 2 bikes per car, and possibly even bounce riders if there isn't enough room. Fortunately all of our stops are handicap-accessible, so we will not have any problems in that respect.
Please carefully review the NJ Transit instructions for bicycles: http://www.njtransit.com/rg/rg_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=BikeProgramTo
Velodrome in the Bronx?
Mike Green, past president of CRCA and Jack Simes, third generation racer in his family, former Olympian, and successful velodrome developer took a group of interested community stakeholders on a tour of the immense and unused Kingsbridge Armory on June 22.
Their plan....to turn this vast structure into a velodrome that is both spark to engage city youth and impetus for local economic growth.

Road ID Greatest Customer Service
I would like to take a minute to tell everyone that ROAD ID it's awesome not just for the product itself but how they stand behind it. A couple weeks ago I had an accident. I landed on my right hand and my ROAD ID ripped apart. By the time I realized my ROAD ID was missing, I was in the ambulance hospital bound.
I wanted to get my ID replaced so I checked their website for their warranty and it’s not covered. I sent an email requesting the price for a replacement. Mike from customer service responded in less than 24hrs offering me a replacement at no charge. I was amazed by it. Edward Wimmer the company’s co-owner sent the order confirmation. I am triple amazed by it.
