Cycling in South America - Recommendations
A friend is trying to find information on bicycle tours in South America, especially Argentina and/or Chile that aren't really expensive (Backroads would be too expensive). Does anyone have any experience cycling in that part of the world, and if so, does anyone could make any recommendations.

Golden Apple - Sunday Sept. 2nd - Who's Riding
All,
I am registered to ride the Golden Apple Century on Sunday Sept. 2nd and wanted to see if there were any other club members riding and if anyone wants to meet up and combine forces, start together and determine whether we want to stay together as we ride.
I am expecting to average around 16 mph over the whole ride, which means probably a comfortable 18-20 pace on the flats. I am an A level rider, but due to family obligations rarely do any of the club rides anymore.
If anyone is interested, drop me a line either through the board or offline at mark.levin(at)gmail(dot)com.
Thanks,
Mark

Reliable shop needed for packing and shipping bike via Fedex/UPS
Purchased for relative and need to ship to the Midwest. Lovely frame, needs plenty of TLC. Anyone have good experience with a (hopefully lower) Manhattan LBS? Thanks in advance.
River Road for the Holiday
With family coming in to town, I'm missing out on all sorts of good rides this weekend. In an attempt to burn off at least a few calories and make sure my bike doesn't call in a complaint of neglect, I'm doing a quick spin of River Road. Meet me on the NYC side of the GWB before 7:30 (email for a NJ pickup) for a B17 spin through the woods. All the details and sign up at http://nycc.org/node/58879.
TRAFFIC COPS IN CENTRAL PARK
REALITY CHECK TIME !!! An 18 year old male from Pennsylvania came to New York 4 days ago to attend Columbia University.(mostly on a scholarship !) He was ticketed today(Thursday Aug 30th) after 10am for reckless riding !! The COP took approximatley 15 minutes to write the ticket. It said "riding recklessly". The cyclist was pulled over just past the boat house, He doesn't remember going thru a red light nor anybody that he road "close" to. He did not have a speedometer on his SPECIALIZED cross bike; he is NOT a racer nor a triathlete. He seemed pleasant, educated and during the next lap which we road together he was anything but safety oriented. I did not see the COP pull him over, but this poor kid thou
ENY spot for sale
Because of a bike crash, I will not be riding ENY and want to sell my spot. The cost was $43.95 (now it's $53.95), and you get a pair of socks as well since I registered early. Anyone interested, please contact me.
Glen Oaks to Orient Point Beach: Tips and Tricks.
So, I put together my own ride starting from my place in Queens and ending at Orient Point all in the north 'shore' of Long Island. It totals out to about a Century.
I was surprised to find that there were quite a few bike paths along the way, which makes me think that maybe some NYCC people have already done this ride. I have spent a total of zero hours scouting the route, which i'm sure i will regret, so i'm looking for any advice on the ride; recommended stops, good routes, really any experience at all.
