Travel/Coupler bikes
Sorry in advance for the length of this post. Over the next year or so I plan to do quite a bit more travel for cycling than I have in the past. I'm beginning to realize the limitations of my carbon fiber race bike, both in terms of portability and the ability to mount tires larger than 25c. Therefore I'm beginning to look into building up a travel bike that can both fold into an airline-compliant case and can fit tires up to 32 or 34c. Ideally this bike would be for traveling for training camps, visiting family out west, participating in off road/gravel events like D2R2, winter training, and possibly racing events like Battenkill.
Create your own energy bar - must see
Guys,
As you know most energy bars are either high in fat, sugar or some other ingredient you want to avoid. and the good ones are usually low in carbs or do not have enough protein.. plus do they really taste good?
so if you can't find the perfect bar why not create your own?
I came across this site which allows you to do just that.. during the build process there is a table on the right that shows how each added component affects the amount of sugar, protein, carbs, etc that will be in your bar..
when you're finished you give it a name, select the packaging, and have a box of your newly created bars shipped to your door.. pretty cool isn't it?
It might be cold, but this story is too good not to warm you up
Mr. Derailleur!
"Eclectic Englishman Mike Sweatman just might know more about the rear gear changer than anyone who ever lived, and catalogs his knowledge—and his irrational affection—in an astounding web museum. For the first time in public, he tries to make sense of it all in this, the 100th year of the derailleur’s existence."

Anyone riding these last two days with temps in single digits? If so, what are you using for gloves?

Lucky 13 - January 20th Photos
If you have a Facebook account, I posted photos from our Jan 20th ride - Lucky 13 Lake Tappan Bradley/Tweed.

Jay Jacobson (Rockland County resident/veteran NYCC member) helped me lead the ride. We were 12 - strong, compatible riders. The temp high was 56F. I ended with 53 miles and I'm sure the New Yorkers had more.
Thanks everyone for making this a great ride. We continue the series on Feb 3rd and hoping we have Susan Rodetis (ski bunny) back with us.
Best,
Diane

B SIG preview ride postponed to 2/2 or 2/3
Well, I am willing to ride in almost temperature but trying to do "gentle coaching" with wind chills in the teens just doesn't sound like fun so we're postponing to next weekend - 2/2 or 2/3. I'll post the new listing later today or tomorrow.
We hope you can join us then.
