The weather forecast is too grim for safe riding tomorrow. I will re-post when the weather is more promising.

Guns for Bikes

Thinking out of the box!

How is it rated? Assault rifle = carbon bike, a one-barrel shotgun = a danish cargo bike, Israeli Uzi = folding bike?

An argument in support of wearing headphones while cycling?

My Subject name is just me being my usual, ol' provocative self. Don't. But might this article have meaning for/application to cycling? http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/02/06/getting-into-your-exercise-groove/

Columbia University Journalism, Cycling safety in Brooklyn

Submitted by RMB2199 on Thu, 02/07/2013 - 12:46am

Hey everybody,

My name is Ryan Book and I'm a reporter with Columbia University's journalism program, and I'm working on a story on bicycle safety in Brooklyn. As you may have heard, preliminary numbers from the Dept. of Transportation show the most deaths and injuries among cyclists during 2012 in Brooklyn over other boroughs.

I'm looking for comments from Brooklynites on the issue, either on what factors might make Brooklyn a scarier place to ride, or what cyclists can do to deter such tragedies from taking place.

Stages Powermeter

Submitted by jegrgic on Wed, 02/06/2013 - 12:58pm

Been looking to get a powermeter but unlike some people, i blew my millions of dollars on scratch tickets.

So the powertap would be in my budget, but hate that it limits you to one wheelset,

Quarq/SRM, just damn expensive.

But Stages seem to have solved the budget/ wheel versitility problem.

I think Ill be getting one of these soon.  Figured Id share to those who are interested

Can someone recommend a really warm cycling jacket...

A previous post requesting a recommendation for warm winter gloves led me to a handmade pair of lobster gauntlets which will arrive shortly.  See link.

I've been also searching for a replacement winter jacket to go over my appropriate layering and keep me warm while cycling, aerobic workout, for a few hours in temps ranging from 15F to 30F.  Presently, I'm using a great Cannodale Jacket manufactured 6 years ago.  What a fantastic jacket.  It is no longer made and has been through the wash at least 300 times or a few times too many.

The forecase is for 22 degrees at 6:00 AM. Enough to freeze the brass bells off a steel bike.
