To my Brooklyn cycling friends: Some of you might know my friend, Joe Lawler, former head mechanic at Sid's on 34th Street, who, last summer, took the job of service manager at Bicycle Roots, until last month on Fulton Street in the Bed-Stuy section of Brooklyn.
Joe went to work at Bicycle Roots because it's the kind of business he believes in: a community- and service-oriented bike shop that pays as much attention to the neigborhood kid with a flat as it does to the Lycra-clad tri-geek looking to upgrade her drive train.

Coming soon to your neighborhood: mayoral candidates opposed to bike lanes
Most hopeful sentence in the above article: Howard Wolfson, a deputy mayor, also suggested on Thursday that any mayoral hopeful would be unwise to reignite a settled debate, saying, “The great bike war is over, and the opponents lost.”
