Submitted by VBaruh on Wed, 02/13/2013 - 8:45pm

The registration for BSTS for spring 2013 is now closed as all the spots are taken. A waiting list is open and if you are interested please proceed as normal registration which is described in great detail in the top sticky post of this message board. Once you complete the process you will be automatically placed on the waiting list.

We will review the waiting list after March 3rd and give you a status update. If there are any changes to the current confirmed list prior to that date, you will move up and be registered for the B-STS on a first come first serve basis.

If you have any questions regarding B-STS please send an email to the email address listed at the bottom of the B-STS information page on this web site.

Most hopeful sentence in the above article: Howard Wolfson, a deputy mayor, also suggested on Thursday that any mayoral hopeful would be unwise to reignite a settled debate, saying, “The great bike war is over, and the opponents lost.”

Confirming your SIG/STS Registration

Submitted by nyccadmin on Wed, 02/13/2013 - 10:09am

Hello all,

There have been a few questions regarding confirmation of SIG/STS registration. In addition to the confirmation email you should have recieved, you can confirm that you are in fact registered for a SIG/STS by visiting the respective event's registration page. If you see the "Cancel Signup" link (as highlighted in the image below) you can rest assured that you are a confirmed registrant.

If you see an option to "Sign Up" as highlighted in the image below then you are not registered.

why drivers hate cyclist: BBC

Submitted by jegrgic on Tue, 02/12/2013 - 1:44pm

Not the best written article, nor the best application of one finding within evolutionary psychology (a personal love of mine).

If i were to contribute to the article, i would add a perspective of a cyclist following the rules %100 of the time to disprove the authors hypothesis.

Cyclist and cars are one and the same, cars do not share roads, therefore cyclist do not.  cyclist wait in line at lights (instead of riding along side cars). we stop at every red light (and do not try to speed through a yellow).  we signal properly etc.

Think motorist would not be just as angry at cyclist, if not more so?

Of course not.

Unfortunate ... and a seriously missed marketing opportunity.

GWB Sidewalk / Path reopened today

That means all of you bike commuters from New Jersey will have to go into work tomorrow, hope you enjoyed your day off! You always take the day off when the path is closed, right? Ha ha ha ha ha ha.

(But really, the PA can't ensure pedestrian and bicycle access across the bridge during expected seasonal weather conditions? There are surely conditions extreme enough to make pedestrian access forbidding, but NYC streets and sidewalks were totally fine at 12pm Saturday because they were well-shoveled and salted. Waiting 2 days to give the all-clear sounds like they just wanted to let the problem take care of itself... infuriatingly lazy when you consider all that they do to tend to the vehicle lanes)
