Lance is not...
...the only history making cyclist to have been interviewed recently. A fascinating interview of ultra-cycling pioneers Lon Haldeman and Pete Penseyres is available on "Over the Top" radio, a cycling specific internet radio/blog site. Hosted by George Thomas, who some of you may recall spoke last year at an NYCC monthly meeting, Lon and Pete discuss their record setting transcontinental tandem crossing, a record which has yet to be broken some 25 years later. WARNING: the interview is about 80 minutes long (I listened while cleaning my bikes). Other interesting interviews can be found in the site's achives.

Cold Weather Bike Clothing
I need to buy new bike clothing for the winter. What places have a good selection and price? In terms of price am I just better off getting them online or is the difference not that great?
Thanks!
Free Bike Safety Class
Lance Jacobs, a bike instructor, is teaching a one evening bike safety class at Bicycle Renaissance next Thursday January 24th. I have not had personal contact with Lance Jacobs or his work, as I am just passing this info along at BR's request. I thought his home page had a persuasive legal/practical argument for not riding so far to the right on certain streets.
Info about the bike safety evening is at: http://www.virtuousbicycle.com/BlogSpace/events/
Meetings Re: Redeisgn of River Road THIS Thursday, 1/17
There are meetings this week on proposed pedestrian and cyclist improvements on River Road between the GWB and Edgewater (that is, the REAL River Road, not Henry Hudson Drive in Palisades Interstate Park). Proposed changes include bike lanes and reduced speed limits (details in this p

NYC Wheel builder
I'm looking for recommendation for a good, affordable wheel builder. What are peoples thoughts?
Also, I found older messages announcing wheel builder classes/workshops. This interests me greatly; does anyone know if something like this is likely to take place this year?
B16 Morning laps in Central Park ride is cancelled
I am officially cancelling tomorrow morning's "Morning Laps in Central Park" ride because of the weather forecast and for personal reasons (I am tired from a long hard weekend -- working Saturday and strenuous ride Sunday).
A general question: Is it necessary to post a message about a ride here or is just seending an e-mail to folks who cared enough to sign up suffice?
