WARNING: Police on Riverside Drive
I went for a quick River Road ride today and saw three cyclists getting tickets between 90th and 165th(?). Not sure if there were more cops south, but rest assures, the Po Po were out in force. I took the Greenway back, didn't want to risk the temptation to blow a light and get a $190 ticket.
Be alert weekend warriors!
Hutchinson Nitro 700x23 tires
I'm seeing a lot of bad reviews of this tire regarding its durability. Any opinions?
(I ride Gatorskins and am happy with them. The Hutchinson tires come standard on a new bike and I'm wondering whether to accept them or swap for Gatorskins.)
Very Early Saturday ride ...somewhere. B18
I notice that the B level rides are quite full for Saturday. I will be doing a short ride out over the GWB early, leaving the Lower East Side around 6:00 and hope to be over the bridge by 7:00 latest. I need to be back downtown by 11:00 so the ride distance and difficulty will be tailored to that with consideration given to wind direction and general energy level. Not an official ride but happy for company if the speed and early hour works for you. A quick stop somewhere but not for more tha say 15 minutes. Mostly just riding. email rjs515 at aol dot com if interested.
River Rd closed for biking Saturday?
Just looked at the site for River Rd and looks like there's a motorcycle event tomorrow that may preclude biking. Anyone heard if it's closed?
Thanks!
Dualdrive internal hub-- advice?
I'm building a Bike Friday for touring and the sales rep is suggesting using a SRAM Dualdrive internal gear hub instead of the triple chainring which on this bike would only give me max about 87 gear inches, whereas the internal hub would bring it up to about 105. I'm not sure if I really care that much about the additional gear inches for the type of riding I'll be doing on this bike, but it would be nice to have...
My concerns are - how reliable are these hubs, how easy to get reliable repairs done if needed? If I'm overseas and the hub needs repairs am I out of luck? Will I have to learn to fix a flat rear tire all over again?
Any advice, help with the pro's and con's would be welcome.

Saturday's Port Jervis post ride venue has been changed...
As the event webpage now states, the River Terrace is closed.
For those of you who wish to have drinks and dinner post ride, the new venue is the Patio at The Roundhouse, 2 East Main St, Beacon: http://www.roundhousebeacon.com
A manager explained that it will be casual dining on the patio. We can leave our bikes on the sidewalk within view. He said that diners have left their bikes here unlocked with no incident of theft.
Indonesian based web site Aviasa Sport is legit?
http://aviasa-sports.com/bike-wheels/mavic-wheels
Web search came up with the above website providing quite competetive prices.
However, I could not come up with any reviews or references on web. Address is in Indonesia. By default is pretty sketchy world region when it comes to credibility. Anyone have a similar experience?

Actually just confirmed it's a scam.
