Great new bakery in Nyack

Submitted by BMirell on Sun, 08/24/2014 - 4:26pm

It's been there for over 2 years but I just found it.

The best all natural, gluten free baked goods I've ever had. Also have Veg. Lasagna, mac & cheese and a few others. Their specialty is a rum cake that's perfect for 2 people. No way of telling that it's gluten free and it's absolutely habit forming. Bike friendly and a clean bathroom. Lots of seating for a group.

Flour Buds - 116a Main street. Going north toward the Runcible, make a left on Main and it's 3-4 blocks on the far right hand corner.

Good wishes to club newlyweds.

Laura Kent and Michael Gately.

...Oh, yeah, I suppose I should add to each other.

Bicycle Ride for Next Summer ?????

Submitted by AResnick on Thu, 08/21/2014 - 5:01pm

Just got back from 2 week long rides mostly in Oregon(part in Northern California).  The organizing group is Bicycle Rides Northwest(internet-look them up).  Most of the trip was on extremely traffic free roads. Some of you might be interested.  Any questions email me or call me(on club list)

PS they carry all your stuff; and it is usually camping as the towns you stay in sometimes do not have motels!!

NY Post yesterday.

Submitted by vinlaw on Thu, 08/21/2014 - 2:23pm

Reading the op-ed columns in the New York Post usually sends me into paroxysms of laughter, or fits of rage, or a combination of the two. I can leave the Post behind feeling all kinds of things except informed but this excerpt from a disingenuous oaf styling himself Michael Goodwin has set a new level of low for one of the most reprehensible non newspapers in print today.

Nobody could really be this stupid or know less about a subject on which they are opining so I assume the ignorance he displays is false and designed to provoke.

For those of you lucky enough to miss it the first time .

Submitted by J S on Wed, 08/20/2014 - 9:51am

Overview
This will be a two-day trip that covers the entire D&R Canal Towpath.  Once an important commercial transportation route, it is now a state park, featuring 70 miles of fine gravel and dirt trails.  The first day will comprise of over 50 miles on the trail, and is mostly flat.  The second day will be 20 miles on the trail, almost 40 miles on the roads, with a fair amount of climbing.

There will be no luggage transport, so you need to carry all your gear with you.

Escape New York 2014 - A loud, final call for volunteers

Submitted by Ken Scher on Tue, 08/19/2014 - 8:48pm

Escape New York takes place this year on Saturday, September 20. As always, it's going to be a great day for all the riders (1,700 or so last year). However, we still really need volunteers to help us put on the event, doing all sorts of things such as rider registration, traffic and food at Sakura Park, staffing the rest stops, riding SAG, and marking routes on the day before the ride. We are particularly keen for volunteers who either have cars and are willing to do some driving (marking, SAG, and ferrying folks to the rest stops), or are comfortable driving a van.
