Discount Code for the NYC Century (TA Alternative) ?
I got bamboozled into riding this thing on Sunday not knowing that the registration is now 75 dollars - do we have a discount code or sometimes those already registered receive a code to get others to register? Anyone?
2nd Verse, Same as the First... Suggestions for Boulder Co.?
I'm renting a bike in Boulder this Sunday and am looking for recommendations for courses. I'll have at least a few hours to spare, but don't want to eat the whole day. One has to leave time for swimming.
If you've ridden anything out there that you're particularly fond of, I'd love to hear about it. Even moreso if you have a link to RidewithGPS :)
Best,
Ben

Is anyone driving out from Manhattan Sunday morning? Happy to split the costs if so
Anyone want to team up for the NYC Century this Sunday?
Hey Guys,
I'm all signed up for the NYC Century this Sunday. For those that have not seen it, look here:
nyccentury.org
I was thinking we could cover the distance much more quickly if we had a good rotating paceline going. I'm shooting to average 20mph (moving time, I'm sure overall will be lower) with minimal stopping.
If anyone wants to join, please email me or reply. My email is [email protected]
Hope you can make it!
Scott

Princeton 200k, Sep 13 (NJ Rando)
Hey is anybody doing the Princeton 200k in 2 weeks? For those with experience - do you think taking NJ Transit on the morning of is doable, or crazy? I see a 5:14-6:25am train from Penn St to Princeton Jct that looks like it would work, but figure I'd ask around

LIRR conductor comedy of errors
As we're boarding the 3:30 train from Montauk today, my wife and I are told by a conductor standing on the platform as we're walking up to the open cars that we should go all the way to the front.
He also comments that bikes aren't really allowed on this train, and that the crew is being nice by allowing us on at all.
I say, just in inquisitve tone, "Oh, really? Trains are on a Saturday schedule, and I thought that Saturday rules would apply. Okay [as in, I guess I was wrong]." But at this point, I don't want to elaborate "hey, we're only going back as far as Speonk -- which train car should we use?" We board our train, in the 2nd car of what turns out to be an 8-car train.
Golden Apple review
Wonderful ride today on the Golden Apple (Westchester Cycle Club's annual ride). The 60 mile route was gorgeous- green and serene, and beautiful leafy rest stops. The route was well marked, directional and caution signs were perfect. Marshals and Uniformed cops did a great job assisting with trickier turns.
The route really took advantage of the best of Westchester's roads (not an easy task after last winter's beating), the pavement was great and the scenery beautiful. And the Sunday of Labor Day weekend- no cars. After riding in Westchester for more than ten years, I was on roads I'd never been on.
Thanks to all NYCC people who made the trip up, and hope everyone will think about it for next year.
