Summer Jannin' Series - thank you Juan and Matt
Summer Jammin’
Hard to believe, 6 months of Summer Jammin’ rides.
I did the math, seriously, we did an accumulated 24,006 miles around Central Park during these past 6 months.
YIKES!
With nothing other than a minor mishap, it sure was safe, one of the safest morning lap series yet.
We talked a lot about a lot of things during these past 6 months; a lot about safety, about MPH, a lot about pacelines, about flicking our elbow, about raccoons, short pulls, about racers, the lousy game of leap frog, about pedestrians, about tri geeks, French poodles, police, and, and, and. . . . .
We did not, however, talk about one other thing, the most important of all.
That being Matt and Juan.
Those guys are the greatest!
Sugar Cayne Bike Fest NYC, Brooklyn Bike Park Sept 13th
This looks like fun for the kids and for those of us who still act like kids.

On Saturday September 13th we’re bringing the Sugar Cayne Bike Fest to Brooklyn Bike Park for a day of friendly pump track competitions. We’re super amp’d to bring our event to our home turf in NYC and since this is our first time doing the event at a pump track we created some unique competitions along with a few familiar ones.

9W Cleanup and Volunteers Needed
Hi folks, the 9W Cleanup is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, October 19th.
For those who are not familiar, we do a cleanup of a section of 9W near Piermont every year. Some snacks and beverages will be available at The Market for those who participate.

Has anyone used the Henry Hudson Bridge to ride from manhattan to the Bronx
Please take my Escape New York Registation
Hello all,
I recently received a prestigious professional development fellowship for school teachers which requires me to abandon my plans to Escape New York on Saturday, September 20th.
NYCC does not refund, but they do allow transfer of registrations. If you would kindly take my registration off my hands, it would be greatly appreciated. Think of it as indirectly positively impacting my 6th grade science students.
Thanks,
Matt
Multi-tool recommendations?
Lost two different multi-tools to the carry-on police, returning from London last week. Apparently their stricture against "any tools" is stricter than the TSA, which permitted them in the other direction. Any recommendations for replacements? I prefer something minimal, but with an allen-key for cleats and, if possible, pedals. Thanks!
Jeff Vogel asks that this sad & upsetting link be posted.
Jeff is travelling and unable to post this long link from the device he has. He asked that I do it for him.
The reason for posting it is Karl Dittebrandt, who, for many years was a very active participant and rider in our club, is still on the club roster. The link is about his daughter. http://crashnegligence.com/mosier-firefighter-and-emt-ellen-dittebrandt-killed-in-bicycle-accident-on-i-84-hood-river-oregon-crash-video-news/

Bicycle Cop Ticketing Cyclists in CP
I don't know if anyone has already posted this, but . . .
I went into Central Park a little after 8:00 AM this morning to do some laps. South of the 90th entrance on the West side, there was a bicycle cop standing around at the side of the road near a traffic light, taking pictures of cyclists, and giving tickets to cyclists who went through the light while it was red. Be carefull: you might not notice him if you're not paying attention.
Clydsdale Wheels
After cracking a rim, having the wheel rebuilt and breaking 3 spokes in the past 6 weeks I'm looking into getting Clydsdale wheels. Any suggestions or recommendations? Steel or ceramic bearings?
