I realized recently that the Garmin 510 has nav capability and that courses can be overlayed over a routable map similar to the 800/810. The problem, however, is that the 510 only has 20M of memory and no sd slot.  The size of each map file from openstreetmap is about 9M and several are needed to cover typical NYCC riding area.  I found the following site that allows users to create a custom routable OSM map in various formats.   http://extract.bbbike.org/.

A training partner of mine was seriously injured while riding to Central Park for laps and is in need of a recommendation for a Physical Therapist. Just west of the pylon closest to the NJ side of the GWB this afternoon around 1pm, a female cyclist was being loaded onto an ambulance, with 2 police cars re-directing traffic.  According to a police officer I asked a bit further on, she was involved in a crash with another cyclist going around the pylon.  I have no idea if that information was accurate, but I am sure the officer was not happy with the speed some of the cylists were going at when the bridge was so crowded with both peds and cyclists.
