Bike Tour Company advise for Holidays
Hello - I just joined NYCC and look forward to rides with you.
At the moment, I'm looking for a great organization that organizes bike tours. I'd like to go on a one-week trip in late December and am having trouble finding anything. Any suggestions out there?
Thanks
Brie
CLOSED What's your one best tip for staying comfortable while riding in cold weather?
What's your single best tip for staying comfortable while riding in cold weather? (Don't bother with "ride your trainer indoors" as I am aware of that option.) This is for an article I'm writing for Examiner.com
NYCC Weekly newsletter
Somehow I stopped getting the NYCC weekly email newsletter. What happened? My membership status is OK.
North Broadway in Nyack
Does anyone have any info as to when they migh finish the repaving job on that stretch of North Broadway just north of the Spoon? It seems like quite a while since they did the milling. Thanks.
on the topic of club gear
I don't want to ruffle any feathers here, especially as I'm about to leave NY.
I never liked the ordering from Champions Systems for two reasons: (I have no opinion on Champions Systems quality of gear, looks fine to me)
1) sizing is a bit iffy and nothing beats being able to actually try on a piece of kit
2) but mostly: it really miffed me that on top of a rather expensive piece of kit I was supposed to cough up another $15 dollar for delivery. In my mind - $15 delivery charge is a rip-off. It should be free.
That being said: Here is how my new club in Stockholm is handling their gear (by the way, nice looking pieces):
Saturday before Thanksgiving: Ride your bike; donate food.
"U2 cancels weeklong gig on ‘The Tonight Show’ when Bono injures arm in Central Park cycling fall"
Says today's Daily News.
And the Washington Post: "Bono injures arm in Central Park bicycle accident, cancels Jimmy Fallon appearance".
Details?
Ride Cancellation -- B15 Central Park training rides
I have pulled a muscle or something like that and must cancel the B15 training rides posted for November 18, 20 & 25.

Thanks, Susan Rodetis, three cheers and a hearty ring of a virtual cowbell...
... for organizing a fun night at the movies (and dinner for several of us afterward at Cleopatra's Needle) to see the new Warren Miller ski film at Symphony Space. Your hard work in putting together this event was much appreciated! Let it snow!
Terrific Bike Shop Experience
On the ride to Sagamore Hill today I had trouble with my front derailleur shifting. My cables were new and had apparently stretched a little. My hands were too cold and numb for me to want to deal with it myself. Fred Leffell pointed out a bikd shop on Oyster Bay Village's main street.
I went in and explained my problem to the owner. He knew exactly what to do, fixed it, had me ride around the block and test it, then checked it again. He refused to let me pay him.
The bike worked pertectly the rest of the ride (I didn't but the bike was fine)
The name of the shop is Cycle Haven. The owner is Derrick Nobman. Address 95 South Street, Oyster Bay, NY 11771; Telephone 516-382-0935; e-mail: [email protected]
