Trying to decide if this is a good idea. Accuweather has winds above 25 mph for most of the day.

A Uber driver is a distracted driver by profession

Submitted by DCuperstein on Sun, 12/21/2014 - 7:36pm

When a passenger asks for a ride through the Uber app, an Uber driver has 15 seconds to respond or he will lose the fare. If he loses to many fares he gets temporarily suspended. On those 15 seconds he has to decide if he is interested in going to that part of town usually while he is driving. How is this legal is beyond me! Uber is causing dristracted driving to be part of the profession of their drivers for every single ride they are requested for.

Cycling on New York roads

Submitted by roussell85 on Sun, 12/21/2014 - 5:53pm

Hi

I am new to NY and new to this club so hello!

I am used to cycling in London where there are now a large number of dedicated cycle superhighways that take you from North-South and East-West, out of the way of motor vehicles. I am also used to pretty good quality roads. I very rarely suffered punctures from potholes. The cycle paths are freshly tarmacced in a blue rubber material that provides comfort and grip for cycling. And London roads generally are in pretty good condition.

Home bike storage ideas

Submitted by RFranco on Sat, 12/20/2014 - 2:16pm

For 16 years I have been very happy with my floor to ceiling bike rack that holds 4 bikes. But I adopted 2 cats who are now using it as a tree. One of the cats has no problem jumping down from the top, but the other is not as athletic. So I am considering a new configuration. I need a system to hold 3 bikes that cats cannot climb upon. It also has to be low enough so I can lift the bikes into place. I thought of using bike hooks and hanging them aside each other. That's a possibility although the cats could probably climb up that too. I also wonder if there is a more aesthetic solution. It has to look good as well as functional.

Thanks for your ideas!
