Member with a car for Saturday? (I have a trunk rack for 3 bicycles)
Use my contact form or reply here to give me a heads up... Was thinking of some options for a small-group fall ride... Anything up to 18mph is fine...
Saddle Testing
I know this was covered a few years ago, but as times change - does anyone know of any shops that have a saddle test program? Stopped at Toga and they don't, and neither does Rennaisance on Columbus. Don't want to drop $100+, use the saddle to test it for a few days, and not be able to return. Thanks!
I interrupt our exciting NYCC election posts for this about cyclists, stop signs, and San Francisco.
We now return to our regularly scheduled intra-club whatever.
Campaign message number 2 - Advocacy
As I mentioned last week, I would be posting a statement each week until the election culminates on 11/10 expressing my views on topics of interest to our members. I felt it would be helpful for you to know your candidates' thinking. So. . . .you all know I invented the SIG, right? I already told you that, right? Maybe I should to tell you again . . . .calm down, only kidding, ha, ha, ha. This evening I'd like to share some thoughts with you about advocacy.
Marathon-Related Closures on the Central Park Loop
I have been asked to post this information to loop users:

Monday 10/19:
Roboviva outage, early morning 10/21
Hi everyone,
This upcoming Wednesday at 1am (EDT), the virtual server hosting everyone's favorite cuesheet generator will be taken offline so the hosting provider can perform some security updates. During this time all Roboviva services, including any hosted PDFs, will be unavailable. The server will be back online by 3:00 am, and Roboviva should be available a minute or two afterwards. HOWEVER, in the event there's an issue related to the update, I won't be awake to check it until 7am—so if you're planning any late-night midweek route planning benders, please plan accordingly.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the 9W cleanup
The cleanup of our stretch of 9W (1 mile of the roadsides starting just south of the Market and extending to the point where 9W heads over the overpass to Nyack and another branch goes downhill to meet with 340 at Sparkill Creek) went very smoothly. As it happened most of the folks who volunteered and rode there on a chilly day arrived early so the work was done by 12:30. The cleanup would not have been possible without the support of the rider leaders: Michael Bernstein, Sam Lunetta and David Beckley. In addition to those 3 leaders, the following persons helped with the work:
Jay Jacobson and Joan Jacobson
Joanne McGarry
John Herman
Karen Ard
Robert Matson
Val Petrov
Alan Resnick and friend
Allen Lum
Claudia Furlan
Ride Participant/waitlist etiquette... penalty for late withdrawal.
"Thank you for Joining Fall Foliage Ride #2: 5 Reservoirs and a Lake" Usually a welcome message, but when you get it at 11:21 PM the night before a ride with a 7am meetup, marginal.
I checked the ride board 6:30pm, gave up finding myself No.15 on the waitlist and downed a few glasses of wine with a huge dinner. Had I gotten the email a few hours earlier, I might have taken down my bike, given it a once over and prepped my gear. Instead some strange dude, three sheets to the wind tossed my bike around, pulled out some mismatched unseasonal garb and filled my water bottles with strange blue stuff.
