Bicycle related post ! Mystery Sloww leak...

Submitted by CLam on Fri, 10/16/2015 - 12:32pm

.
Wheel-

Infrequently used "City" lockup bike.
700x 32 Bontrager tire and wheel, Kenda tube 80psi. Sch. valve. Ritchey rim tape.

Leak-

Pumped up tire two week ago for use. Later at home, bike leaning against wall. Tire loses air with sound and goes flat in less than a min. Valve stem/w tube connection/ contact with rim hole abrasion caused the tube to fail at a time when bike not in use. Somewhat odd.

Replace with NEW Kenda tube. Fill with air, used bike one more time, no problems. Check in basement 2 weeks later. Totally flat.

The following is the final list of candidates for the 2016 Board of Directors

NYCC State of the Club, 2015

NYCC State of the Club, 2015

Board

Going into 2015, we had six freshmen, including the Rides team, Public Relations and Events Coordinator. Because the Board vastly simplified the task of Incentives, the position of Merchandise Manager was retired.

Going into 2016, all but one board member is returning.

Rides

Ride count in 2015 was down 5% from 2014.  Proximate cause was the extended winter.  To date A's slightly down.  B's slightly up.  The drop off was in C-rides.

Tuesday's Club Meeting

Neile’s  summary at the Club meeting Tuesday, our 'State of the Union Address' was so very disheartening to listen to for this devoted NYCC member of 33 years.

2016 Board Election Forum?

Submitted by JLevine on Wed, 10/14/2015 - 9:33pm

I'm not sure who to address this question to, so I'm throwing it to the masses: what, if any, forum will there be for the candidates, especially for club president, to present their "platform" for 2016? Over the past several years, the election dialogue has been relegated to MB posts and a few rushed minutes at the November meeting (perhaps my memory is faulty but I believe the November club meeting was once devoted exclusively or mostly to the candidates). I see a program unrelated to the election has been announced for November. Although the topic looks interesting, with a contested election for president and to give those running unopposed a chance to speak with the membership, I think a more substantial dialogue would be welcome.

I am running for office of Presidenrt of the New York Cycle Club.

Submitted by CGuzzetta on Wed, 10/14/2015 - 9:14pm

I am running for the office of President of the New York Cycle Club.  I understand my opponent and I will have an opportunity to post a kind of “platform statement” on the Club website.  Furthermore, each of us will have the opportunity to send one mailing to each of our fellow Club members.  In the meantime, I felt it might be helpful to share with you some of my values and opinions as they pertain to topical NYCC issues.

The Open Social Ride- Sunday, October 25

Submitted by GeorgeArcarola on Tue, 10/13/2015 - 2:30pm

On Sunday, October 25th, there will be a ride to the 9W Market, open to both members AND non-members. There will be rides for C-13 and C-14, and B-15 through 17.

The leader team, of twenty (20) experienced NYCC leaders invite all of you reading this message board to come and join us.

Use this link to access the sign up->

http://nycc.org/social-ride

as this ride does not use the regular ride submission form so that we could include cyclists that are not yet NYCC members.

Wed 14th: Midweek Gravel ride (CX/knobbies) near Cold Spring

Submitted by nicku33 on Tue, 10/13/2015 - 11:01am

I got this route from a friend and did it once before, but slowly.

If anyone wants to do it with me tomorrow, I'm taking the day off while the weather is warm. Meet GCT for 8:46 train. I'd say I'm an A19 rider but it's mostly rollers on gravel so I go slower. I'm using my CX bike with knobbies, which helps a lot. It's only 50 miles but it's maybe equiv to 80 on asphalt.
